Reason I ask is cause I'm still getting steering wheel wobble. The problem that won't go away. /furious

Happens when i'm driving(increases w/ speed) and is present around town too. I also get a slight vibration when braking, rotors were replaced a couple weeks ago and it's still doing it. It's not that severe to the point were i'd have to stop driving it, more of a moderate annoyance.

At first I thought it was the new-er- wheels I put on. After 3 balances at 2 different places (Roadforced, no runout detected) they still do it.. Switched the rears to the front and still did it, put 2 of my winter wheels on and it still wobbled. I never noticed it( or never payed att) with the winters on. Safe to say it's not the wheels.

The place that balanced them checked the front end twice and found no play. Had my friend (mech) take a closer look and all he could find was a hair of play in the lca bushings. In his opinion not enough to effect the steering wheel. The car doesn't make any creaking, metal to metal noises, popping or clunks. The only thing I ever hear is some bushing type noise when its below 40 degrees, but goes away after 5 minutes of driving.

I was going to buy uca & lca's and just f'n replace them. Then my friend planted the hub seed into my head. He hasn't driven it yet but said it was a possibility from how I described said problem. However the hub makes 0 noise.

I'd hate to start throwing money at the front susp but want this fixed.

Do you have inner stick on weights or hammer on? If they are inner stick on weights, I'm going with the rotors being warped or out of round before I would the hub. Mine had wobble last year but it was because of how the tires were balanced. I had stick on weights put in by wal-mart of all places and I got it up to 80 mph and it was extremely smooth. Most of my wobble was at 40 to 55 mph. It's been one year now and still have zero wobble. Normally I wouldn't take my car to wal-mart but only letting them balance tires and or swap some out for me and getting the lifetime balance and rotation, I'll do.

That's all I'll let them touch on my car. They done an excellent job on the balancing though. The other place put hammer on weights and one of them flew off somewhere on my way to Auburn, AL. so you could imagine the wobble I had. It was a front tire too.

To prove what I'm saying, this pic was taken in Auburn and I had just had the tires balanced right before I went down there and look whats missing. A weight!

This tire held it's weight lol.

So did this one.

This was also before I got the new corner lenses. See the dirt build up in the yellow section?

Sorry, I missed that. Still could be the problem. I betting it's either tire balance or it could be the new rotors. Sometimes a balance machine could use a good calibration.

What rotors did you replace with two weeks ago?

They were replaced under warranty. Cleaned the crap out of the hub surface and made sure everything was debris free. Pad's were good w/ even wear and the pins were well lubed. The old rotors prob weren't bad, but hey it was free and worth a shot.

The wheels have stick on weights on the back of the wheels :p

But no stick on weights in the front?

Ok, so all 4 of your wheels have stick on weights... :D

I would really consider going back to the place that balanced them and tell them what it's doing. Make them balance them again on a different machine, if they have at least two. If that doesn't help, I'm going with these new rotors you just got two weeks ago. I can't really see it being the hub, if all is smooth and no noises or anything.

I feel really strong that it is the balance. Do you still have access to your old rotors? If so, put them on and see if you have wobble.

Better?

Can you get the wheel off the ground and recheck?

If there's ANY play in ANYTHING it can cause vibrations

I'm just going on what my friend said, I trust him but I'd like to know what a "hair" is myself. I told him to be very anal when checking it and thats all he found.

I plan on checking for movement while somebody else gives it a good shake this weekend.

When you're at around 40 to 50 mph, does your steering wheel go back and forth when you have your hands off it? When you hit speeds of 60 to 80, does it really throw some vibration to the car?

What wheels and hubcentric rings do you have? And do they fit the wheels tight?

If you are annal then I would rebuild the front end and get a 4 wheel alignment. The front control arm bushings are probably toast. You indicated your wheels and tires have been certified balanced.

I'd say yes but it's at times intermittent. It is the type of wobble i'd expect from a out of balance wheel, but at this point I have to rule them out as 3 diff sets do it as well.

I'm running chrome 20 spokes now. My sig pick is from last year. Those 19's did wobble but they were busted and wouldn't balance correctly..

This is what i've leaned towards. Expensive but it'll give me peace of mind and hopefully fix the issue.
