The official Cousin Paul Thread

Didnt work out today, i called The Seller for the mk7 and he was in Rockaway, whilst the car is on 96th and 23rd near LaGuardia (one mile from my routine Queens stop) So Seller Dude has offered to meet me tomorrow...

Seller Dude was unaware that we were actually planning on picking this car up so he was not prepared

Spoke to Cousin Paul and John (OldSchool1) and still need status on whether they are comming up on Friday (Tomorrow) or Saturday...

Car starts from Jump start but then dies when let go... I say

Bad Alternator and Voltage Regulator but towards the end of the night I find that you apparently rumor has it that you can only START car by Jumping The Starter with a screwdriver...

This would be a Ground Problem which presents one of two new scenarios:

A) Ground shortage near the starter where the screwdriver completes the "circuit"

B) Ground shortage at the battery main line where the external power (IE Another car) completes that same circuit....

I don't think OldSchool is aware of this breaking-news....

It's days later and a dozen phone calls later and I'm picking up Coisin Paul in 30 minutes and heading up to 9700 23rd Ave East Elmhurst, NY 11369-1202

I'm carrying Mrs.OldSchool's phone at 267.977.4266 and my laptop and a camera and oh yeah ... tools, so if you don't hear from a brother by 10:00 am, start calling me guys :)

Film at 11.

The One That We Threw Back

Well. Before leaving Monday morning, Cousin Paul took inventory. Five in the driveway and two in the garage. All of these are his except for the black Mark which is OldSchool2.

On the street across from his house, are five more of his starting with the white winged Mark.

OldSchool2 got a full tank of gas. Yes, we can put 22 gallons in our tanks.

107 miles later, the seller is trying to get it started. The ignition is broken, the battery is dead, and he only put a gallon in the tank to try to start it.

From the side, she might even look good once washed.

The Engine Bay was the final straw. There was a very even coating of rust across everything that could possibly rust. Anything that could oxidize, did. The starter would turn but the engine would not start. Even when the seller sprayed WhoTheHellKnowsWhat into the throttle body. He didn't change the battery like we asked and he wouldn't add more fuel like we asked.

My advice was to relist the car as a parts vehicle with a buy it now price of $250.00 Two and a half hours and 222.2 miles later, we landed right back where we started in Paul's driveway, surrounded by twelve of his cars.

Thanks everyone for your help

sorry it did not work for ya. maybe you are better off.

Eric
