The Price of gas....Compared with Gasoline

Think a gallon of gas is expensive?

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ...... $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ....... $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 .......... $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 . $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .... $123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ...... . $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 ..$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismal or Nyquil.

Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump...

This didn't make me feel any better about the price of gas. I don't buy this stuff 10 to 18 gallons at a time and go through it in a few days. Although Nyquil would be a nice way to forget about the high cost of gas.

Yeah, I've heard that before. That's kinda funny. Tap water would cost a lot less than the Naive water would, but I did the math once and don't remember the results, but I think even tap water is more expensive than gas.

High gas prices suck, don't get me wrong, but to those running around saying the sky is falling, consider this, things are not the worst they've been. When things went crazy in the 70's the gas prices went up, well, if you figure inflation, that would've been about $3/gallon. So things aren't at their all time worst when it comes to gas.

yep, prices could be a lot worse!
if ya look at some parts of the USA compared to others, you can see diifferences like 50c a gallon or so.
Still, it would be nice to be pating 1.59 for 93 again, instead of 2.59....
:Beer

My though was the oil companies wanted to get the price up to about $1.30 per gallon 3 years ago when they started this price hike.

Now $1.50 per gallon is looking good.

But my thoughts now are they want us to be happy with $2.00 per gallon.

thats what they WANT!!! its not gonna happen!!! I WILL NEVER be HAPPY with the price of gas till ig goes back under $1.00 again... so in other words, i'll NEVER be happy w/the price of gas!!!!

i STILL think $1.00/a gallon is RIDICULOUS!!! :soapbox:

So are you old enough to remember gas prices under $.20 per gallon?

The cheapest I remember seeing a gas price was $.14 per gallon during to good old gas wars days.

Granted I was a kid and only riding in a car at that time.

I also remember in HS when with one of my teachers we pulled into a station for gas and the price was about $.30 per gallon and he left because it was too high.

I also remember when the change in my pocket filled my motorcycle tank.

Man I wish gas was $.30 a gallon. I remember it being about a dollar when I was younger. I am not that old so i have never seen gas for $.30 per gallon. A dollar per gallon would be very nice.

In 1999 I bought my Conversion Van. 33 gallon tank gas only $.89 per gallon. If you take off the about $.45 per gallon taks that was only $.44 per gallon.

Not bad. Then the price started to go up. At 12 to 15 miles per gallon that was not good.

Glad I got rid of that beast... Was a nice hauler for the 4 kids...

Would have even been better when I was in High School... Good thing I got rid of it before my kids got their Licenses.

yea, ya old farts!
LOL....the lowest i've seen it was like....$1.39 for 93

although, i live in MI, so that may vary for each state....
:wrench

mespock, I remember when gas was that low, gas is going down where i live i put gas in my Town Car the other day and it was $2.21 for 89 and today it is $2.12 for 89.

Last night I went to a track meet. Gas in this town was $2.19 then 15 miles away gas was $2.25, 10 miles further to Boscobel gas was $2.27

There is something wrong. These are all small towns.

Oh Dereck - When you join in any Gas Price Thread you make us feel bad LOL.

Well I know you may look at our whinning as aw To bad Americans about time you pay what the rest of the world pays.

Those of you that think that gas was cheap back in the 60s... you're wrong. Remember one key factor. INFLATION! 30 cents a gallon was when a mustang used to cost 3k. The cheapest gas adjusted for inflation was in the late 90s early 00s. It was around $1 a gallon.

Let's hear it for socialist governments!!!!!!!!!

I can remember when the English still owned Rolls Royce, Jaguar, etc.,

Before British Leyland ran the auto industry into the dirt.

Still had a world class navy, air force, and areonautics industry.

When they held off the conquerer of continental europe, alone.

The price of gas in this part of the world is mostly taxes! To help pay for all of the junk people think the government is obligated to provide for those who don't feel obligated to be responsible for themselves.

It is happening here, Al Gore was just one who advocated huge "energy" taxes, good thing he went down the toilet. Beware the future!

It still cost me more to fill my tank. Than it did a year ago. Gas isn't cheap!

cheaper than England but when it's $.10 a gallon cheaper just 15 miles away what gives!

Yeah, but remember, a good hourly wage was $1.00 - $1.50 an hour, too! And a nice home could be purchased for $7,000 - $8,000 ...... a $20,000 home was unthinkable! A Snicker's bar was a nickel ...... I could go on and on. To sum it all up, it's all relative. Today's standard of living is so much higher than it was in the 50's when everything else is taken into consideration. Just my $.02. :dancefool

agreed....
everything is in proportion...relative(like you said).
we have to pay the prices anyway, complaining isn't gonna help.
it's like, go to CA and pay the gas prices over there, weenies!...LOL

I guess you're right, I'm not going to stop driving, but I'd sure like the extra cash back!
