okelydokely. you may remember me from earlier posts such as the oh my god window thread. well i got the door apart (extra big shout out to the pic taker on the other thread - proved useful with minor differences) and found out why my window will not be repaired tonight, probably from fidgeting after it fell, i found that the plastic clips that attach to the wire on the window regulator that attach to the metal part on the window assembly that holds the window has broken. not sure what part im talking about? photos attached:

question is do you think that a lincoln dealer would be the only person to have these? will i have to buy the whole part or maybe just the plastic clip on the bottom part?

i will be seriously pissed if that is indeed the case, everything else is solid, i even thought about superglueing the plastic together and putting it back on, i can slip the spring and the clip back into place and it holds on but not solidly, i'd obviousy rather replace it if that's an option.... but spending 150 on an entire regulator as opposed to what appears to be a 70 cent piece of plastic... will make me really really mad...

fords cable driven regulators are crap and a serious PIA to rebuild, the entire spool needs to be removed and rewound at this point. no one sells individual regulator pieces not sure if aftermarket has picked up on regulators

you need the entire regulator, and dealer only as far as i know

+1

That same plastic piece broke on my regulator about 2 years ago, paid $120 for new regulator from Lincoln dealership.
IIRC, the piece that broke off guides the window up and down the cable, so I doubt super glue will last long, if at all. Might as well bite the bullet and fix it right.

Wow, talk about deja vue. This was a known issue in 2000 and was the subject of a TSB and hence fixed in 2001 or so. Ford replaced the plastic clips with metal ones that won't break. I think a search of the board would have uncovered this. :D

ebay $65 they said the LS has a lot of issues for window regulators. I say replace the whole thing. i had a guy come over and fix it, one of those mobile mechanics.....$20. Took him half and hour to finish. I tried doing it myself but the wire was all tangled and looked like it would've taken me forever to even figure it out.

I bought one from O'riellys. It was made by Dorman, which makes very good quaility hard to find replacement parts. I think it was around $70-$80 and got it next day.

same problem with mine right now! mine froze though, it didn't just fall for no reason, but I've taken it to the dealer and they wanted to replace the regulator and the motor! and I said BULL:q:q:q:q! all it needs it a plastic clip and to be set back in place, they said to come back when I get 150$ f**k ford! but I guess I'm just going to buy a regulator alone if I can find one and replace it myself.

anyone on the forum happen to have an extra one of these partsw lying around from perhaps their own regulator replacing?

When I did mine regulators, the same part was broken, but I think that part breaking is a result of a larger problem. What it looked like on mine was that the cable started to come loose which allowed that part to twist and break. I think there are a couple reasons the cable can come loose, stretch, but it looked like the bigger problem might be that the half pulleys, which aren't really pulleys at all, but guides started to wear, and that allowed slack in the cable.

Don't know it that helps, but it is something that I saw when working on mine.

:D I sent an email to team ford asking to replace my plastic clip, see what response I get lol I have the money to buy a reg and motor I would just like to save for once.

If that is the case then why does my 2002 have the same design?:(

Good thing she is getting replaced in a couple of weeks.

Guys...Guys....Guys....
Why pay that kind of cash for a dorman when the real deal for the front is 139.06 and cost LVC only $83.44 plus shipping for the 99-2006 models?? They are in stock and ready to ship. You can contact me directly at....

You must have an early build 2002. I'm not exactly sure when the switch was made, but I'm fairly sure it was in 2001 (the year, not the model). I do know they replaced those plastic clips with metal ones because this issue has been discussed many many many times and so has the factory fix. All of this has been known for years.

83$ and shipping for a plastic clip? lol I'll take my chances with the super glue.

No. 83 plus shipping for the whole assembly.

that's the way I'll go when mine finally break. I hear a couple of the windows getting rattle-y, and feel this might be the issue.
