Well I hate to say it but I have never tore deep into an eight. I have taken off door panels and I have Basic knowledge of cars [I've been a mechanic for 12 years now]. But I have never had a chance to work on many eights. I am sure the wood in the center console just pops out. And I Understand dropping the tank to get at the driveshaft and it will have to come out to get the motor and tranny out.

What my main concerns are the little tricks. Like the k-member and the suspension. And just the little things you guys can tell me that will make my life easier in the process.

I have a big ass cherry picker and plan on picking the front of the car up like Laser did [your threads have been very helpful btw]. And I have enough tools to shake a stick and an extension with a 10mm swivel socket at.



Just wondering cause I have never attacked a car like this and want to do it fast since I don't have a garage and the neighbors don't want to see it forever. Although their cool cause I fix their :q:q:q:q on a regular basis. And they have all been advised on what this car is for and are very understandig.

You went from center console popping out panels to drive shaft, gas tank trans and motor...what are you taking apart?

If you're about to attack your motor, nothing need be done to the console

You don't need to drop the tank to get the driveshaft out of the tranny...

Just unbolt the driveshaft and then unbolt the rear differential and let it hang. You can then slide the driveshaft back toward the rear of the car up over the differential enough to clear the tranny yoke...

I used an old fridge dolly I found as a motor trolly...drop everything on it, and roll it out from under the car as opposed to dragging and tugging and more dragging

I am going to pull the tank in the process to have the shell scrapped. But I am also wanting the rearend [well just the center section]. So It would be easier to just pull it at the same time as the tranny I take it.

I wouldn't advise using wood, never...the motor alone is roughly 800lbs, and the trans still attached is an added 300? Plus i did it with kmember and suspension/brakes still attached as well, there's another added 250

the motor only weighs about 550 lbs with no trans on it and no fluids.

How much does the trans weigh? 300? I picked a couple of them up the other day and threw them in my truck. They were heavy but I don't see 300lbs!!! Probably more like 150 or 200lbs!!!

hell if you dont need the car to roll onto the flatbed, just pull both the front and rear subframe, gut the shell and have them drag it onto a flatbed. it might leave some marks on your driveway though

Well here are the pics of the car. I also have a few questions, as usual. There was a box in the passenger side of the trunk. Not the amp this was mounted by the trunklid arm. How do the cupholder and ashtray come out? I need them for my red car. And they are almost perfect. And they work fine.

We only spent a few hours on it and the sun is now setting. I am going to go do what I can after I load all these pics.

Cuphold and ashtray have screws that hold them in. 4 phillips each I think. Interior looks better than I remember.
