I just bought a 2000 ls and i have been hearing things about the valve cover gaskets and the climate control and problems like that. I was wondering what all the problems are this year usually has/ recalls stuff like that so i can see while i still have the warranty from the dealer i got it from to see if he did everything. I dont want their to be something small now then at a later date i get screwed because their were problems i never looked for. Thanks in advance and by the way its a v8.

Ask your dealer for an Oasis report to see the work that's been done on the car. This is basicaly a historical record of dealer performed service on that particular car. There were recalls or service bullitins for for transmission reflash, ball joints, rear window regulator replacements, heating elements for the seats, rear seatback latch replacement, leaking headlights and a couple of other things on the '00 model that might or might not show up on this report. Don't be alarmed by any if they appear, they're known problems, however if they don't have your dealer check them before the waranty expires.

Thanks, im gonna go there and ask for a report to see what he has done.
Also how can i tell if their is a problem with the valve cover gaskets?
From what i have heard this is a known problem that if not caught early enough can become a big problem.
