I called them yesterday to see whats up and ask a couple questions. 40 bucks a year aint gonna kill me. Is anyone here a member over there ? I'm basically just looking for more people in my area, more tech, more people. But I dont want to just throw 40 a year away. I asked if there was some sort of "Trial" Membership, they said no. Anyone else ? Is this one of those, "They're a bunch of old yuppies" type thing and stay away or are they respected in the community ? thanks fellas !

One of the great resources there is access to Alldata. Their dues alone are about that a month! Alldata helped me get the trans solenoid replaced. The access to the Lincoln engineers is priceless!!

It really depends on what you are looking to get out of the club. If you find all the info you need here then It make no sense to join over there. But if you ask questions and never get an answer then by all means join LLSOC. Not saying that you will get the answers over there but it adds another resource. But like myself this club has other members from LLSOC and more often than not the same members that answers questions over there answer them on this board too. For me Lou (Quik LS) and Ken (GrayGhost1) helped me the most on LLSOC so when they dropped Ken my experiences in that club was greatly affected not taking away from anyone else who has helped me over there. That's when I found him over here so I joined and if you notice both Ken and Lou are very active on LVC in helping everyone. This club caters to my needs more although it may not seem like I'm that active on LVC since I don't have a lot of post. Usually I just do a search and find the answers I need so I don't have to start a new topic. But both clubs are good clubs.

As I have said before - the sites are very different - and each have an unique membership. I am a paid member of several forums - I do not have an issue paying to support places I use.

Most things I have learned about the LS I learned from the LLSOC.

I don't mind sharing what I know (I belong to a dozen forums) but I am careful about cross-posting info between forums...

I'd agree with this 100%. There are a number of LLSOC members who post here, and I think we'd all agree that LLSOC and LVC are simply different entities, each with its own distinct character. Personally, I think that's mostly because a significant percentage of the technical questions asked here were answered at LLSOC long ago, so the big topics of discussion have become more diverse. (There's not a whole lot of discussion to be had on a problem when you search and find the solution from a post in '02.)

I think the $40 membership fee is a bargain, and I'd gladly spend it again.
