How's it going guys, I haven't been around in a while, a lot of work. I'm looking at a 2002 Jaguar X-type as you may know, along with some 19 inch wheels. I was curious to see what would be the thinnest tire I could run on them, I don't want any rubbing problems.

When I bought the tires for my MarkVIII, the 245/40/18 was the most popular 18 size but not recommended for 9.5 wide. I went with a 265/40 plus the height was better for the car. I'm guessing 255 is as narrow as you could go with a 40 series on a 9.5. 19" should be the same rules. A taller series may allow a thinner tread, but wouldn't fit and would look to large and even gay.

I think it would be better 255/35 as the 40 series will be tall for the X-type Jag, no? But 9.5 is a lot of width for that Jag, you might try looking at narrower rims.

Yah definately. I was just trying to point out the taller side wall may allow a narrower tread, but it woundn't necessarily fit of look right. I think the 255/35 might be to narrow on 9.5. 265 if it exists or 275. I think 9.5 is likely to much wheel for the X-type. ???.

Seems like it, I might be able to get away with a 8.5 wide wheel. Thanks for the input guys.
