Any place that sells kits? My front pads are pretty worn. My rotors are okay but they're lookin kinda rusty, they won't look too good with the new set of wheels I ordered. I should get some nice powder coated calipers too. Just for the fronts, for now. I don't wanna go 13" cause I have the stock 16's for the winter. I'm more concerned with looks than performance... not like I'm going auto-crossing any time soon.

So whats the OEM size rotor, 11.5 inch? I need that size, no fancy shmancy slotted/drilleds... I've heard bad things, especially when staying at OEM size cause you're taking away from surface area. What kind of pads? I heard ceramics are good cause they're quieter and they don't coat your wheels in dust.

I'm not the type to put install cheap Made in China parts on anything I own but I thought this deserved mentioning...

r1concepts is a company in Canada that sells OEM size kits on eBay, cross-drilled and slotted, WITH "semi-metallic" pads for around $175 for the fronts (shipping included so it may differ for you). If you want front AND rear with pads, it will be around $250. A similar setup from Summit racing or discbrakesrus.com would cost double, or triple that. And you all know how much a 13" set costs...

So, $250 for all new rotors and pads? That leaves me some room for powdercoated calipers. The ONLY reason I'm even thinking about it is because I searched for "r1concepts" on this forum and I didn't even hear about 1 problem with them. In fact, 5 people said they had no problems at all with them... even a few thousand miles down the road.

i have the 13" ford motorsport rotors and big caliper kit on my front.. and i have no idea where to get replacement pads.. or even a kit for the rear.. i cant seem to find them anywhere for my car... looks like im in the same boat you are

I contacted R1concepts once and asked about their rotors, and they said that the rotors were all made in Canada. No China crap.

I have Hawk HP+ pads on the front of my car, and they made a huge difference in terms of stopping power and brake fade compared to my stock pads.

i'll save ya 50 bucks

i am conflicted on this - I have been looking for new pads and rotors for my car to put on before winter, but I am not really interested in slotted or drilled rotors, and these are BOTH - I mean, from what I understand, this only weakens the disc.

Also, I have changed my front pads before, but do I need a special tool to change the rear pads and discs?

In the ebay listing, for some extra money, I don't remember how much, you can get them just slotted, just drilled, or neither. Seems kinda funny they charge more for less work.
I believe to change the rear pads all you need is a tool that twists the rear caliper piston as it goes in.

If you want regular style rotors just get a good pair from your local auto part store. No point in getting them from eBay. I just want to make my wheels/brakes look good.

Can anyone confirm that these rotors don't warp with our cars? Or the brakes don't make too much dust? Any opinions at all??

I looked on r1concepts website and they sell regular oem rotor packages with pads for pretty cheap. Drilled/slotted packages with pads for under 200 as well. I'm about to order some I think. Seank, I thought you said that you didn't want anything fancy like slotted and drilled, so what do you mean you want to make your wheels look good?

You're right.. I said that. Now I can't decide. I have a little while to figure it out. I was just amazed at the price of r1concepts package. I also have to figure out where to get some powdercoated calipers.

Any reviews of r1concepts products?

Got a full set with pads and drilled/slotted this past Spring. I love them so much I will put a set on my wife's 'stang when the time comes.

I run my 98 LSS pretty hard and wash the rims and tires just about everyday and the rotors are just starting to get a tad corroded after 5 months. Stopping is always smooth and straight. Normal wear after 5,000 miles.

I just can't believe how people love these things. Ah well, guess I should get in line to order a set.

I 'm cryoing rotors and pads next week so if you got 'em, send them to me.

I can supply you with treated rotors (stock replacements) and pads (whatever you like) for a song and a dance.

A set of cryo'd rotors and pads will last a heck of lot longer than anything that is not frozen and heat treated.
