I have 44,000 miles on my LS now, and was wondering about a wider tire to replace my factory 17" HX MXM4s. Currently I have 235/50/17s. And in replacing the tires, is it a good idea to have the front end aligned as well?

Your choice of tire depends on what characteristics are most important to you. Do you want maximum performance? Or do you want a smooth quiet ride? Do you drive in wet weather or snow? Do you want a summer-only tire, or an all-season?

Others will certainly chime in with their opinions. For me, I wanted a smooth quiet ride, so I chose Bridgestone Turanza LS tires. They come in a variety of sizes and speed ratings. They are also highly rated by customers on the Tirerack website. After about 5000 miles, I am very happy with them.

As for the alignment, I always get a 4-wheel alignment when I get new tires. Some say the LS doesn't need it, but I think it is cheap insurance. I don't trust 3rd party tire shops to align my car correctly, so I have the dealer do it. It usually runs about $70 for a 4-wheel alignment.

Am lookin for new set tires too, that are a lil wider,,

would like a quit ride that work well in all weather,, i live in mass,,lol so snow and rain protection is needed.

any ideas on a good tire?

I think I have one of the wider set of tires on the forum. I'm running 255/45R18's on my car. People have ran 255's on 17's with no problems.
