Hey guys. My 2000 LS8 has been sitting for about 2 years now. I still turn it on from time to time and wash it and have been doing other maintenance like fuel pump, ball joints and other misc stuff.

I changed both secondary chains and tensioners a while back and now I finally have had time to take the entire engine apart, again. This time to change the master chains, tensioners, guides and water outlet, this car is my personal little plague that I can't get rid of....no one wants it. I ordered TK4162 DNJ and my LS8 has a build date of 01/2000. It even had the original hydraulic fan which has since been replaced with an electric fan but anyways the issue I have is the old chain guides (the straight ones) are a lot shorter than the new ones, I'm stumped. The new straight guides make it to the gears. Is this the "improved design" ? The curved arms are ok and similar to the old ones.

DNJ shows another kit TK4163 for LS8s made after 5/2001 which there is no way in hell my car would be covered but I'm a bit lost here. I have the TK4162. I can't see a difference in the guides. I've looked at Chris's parts and photos look the same.

I guess the new ones have oval holes where the bolts go and circular holes where the guide pins go. I'm an idiot. After a few hours of working on the old girl again I guess I'm a little delusional.
