make sure if you only have a normal set of sockets to also buy a 15/16 ths deep socket, and rent a ball joint remover(the fork type) this will prevent you from having a 4 1/2 hour change out, also if the ball joint starts spinning while u try to turn the nut on it get a jack and jack up the lower control arm until it binds it tight enough to make the nut spinning w/out the ball joint, good luck!!!!!! oh it was about 192 degrees out today when I did it, fun fun and vey red!

It was honestly not too too bad it would have been a breeze if I had known what I just posted on this thread greatly, it would have def. saved about 2 hours no kidding.... plus if I wasnt doing it by myself, always get someone to help is the rule but sometimes u just have to ruff it

Did hours of searching and had the Ford CD. Would have really, really, like to have come across this before I started!
Adding a note here to refresh this thread and hopefully help someone about to start the re & re of the LCA's

Are there any tips for the Upper Control Arms? I've searched and found that the left side is tougher due to the master cylinder. Some here have had to remove while others have not.

Is it easier to do this with the LCA out or it doesn't make a difference?

If you remove the inner fender liner there is an access hole you can use the right combination of socket/swivel/extension to get to the nut.

Removing the lower control would be no help.

I have done both of my second gen Marks uppers. The first I used a stubby ratchet and was able to loosen the drivers side without having to remove the Master Cylinder.

Second Mark I had loaned out the stubby wrench so I just loosened the Master Cylinder bolts and moved it to the side a bit to get off the rear nut.

Thanks Guys!

I will try the my tools I do have a stubby, and if not will remove the inner fender
