I have the worn stock 225 60 16 tires. What else will fit on my 16 " wheels and not rub, not mess with the ride height sensors, and for the second time wont rub ! I would love a wider tire if poss. what have you used?

thx, JOHN

really Chris? they dont rub? and the ride height sensors dont freak?

x2

and I do know that some have done 255/50-16's and not had issues, but if you do the 245's they are not quite as tall so your speedometer is off (fast) by a few MPH @ 60 MPH, off maybe 2 or 3 MPH max.

i was going to wuss out and go with 235 55 16 's they are a 1/2 inch shorter and a 1/2 inch wider or so.

I had no problems with 255/50/16s. The sidewall on 255/50s was noticibly shorter than the stock 225/60 sidewall when looking at the car, a 245/50 would be even more pronounced.

tiltedhalo had something like 295-40-16 on his 10 spokes i think, i have run many 245-50-16's on my past marks, my buddy ed runs them on his 98 lsc right now. you could easily do a 265-50 on the rear and a 245-50 front, or if you want them to all be matching a 245 or 255-50 will work with no rubbing issues.

I ran the 245s with no issues at all. I have heard of people going as wide as 255 on the stock 16 with no trouble, but I personally dont have any experience with that.

I am running 255/50/16's on all 4 corners of mine and loving it! Plenty of tread on the road. That is the widest I would safely go.

ran em for a long time. no issues what so ever.
i run 275s on 17s now. still no issues.

im getting the 18'' speedstars, as per my other thread i started awhile ago. i was gonna go 245/45/18 all around but i want something wide. 245 doesn't really cut it for me. whats the biggest i can go in the front 255? the guy at thecustomwheelshop said if i stagger them, 255 up front, 275 in the rear i have to sensor lower the car? i want wide tires like i said, 245's not really a huge difference as far as width, the tires on there now are 225's. if i don't have to sensor lower the car, i'd love to go with 255/45/18 up front, 275/40/18 out back

Laser says he thinks a 275 will fit up front.
otherwise, 255/45 shouldn't give you any problem.
i've had a 275 up front on my car, but it was on a 17 and shorter than stock.

has he run a 275 up front with 18s ?? sorry for the :q:q:q:q load of questions but im just curious and need to know is all :) it might give me a problem 275s up front with 18s idk. hmm. if i go with this setup--> will i have to sensor lower the car?
front - 255/45/18 - $191.00 each
rear- 275/40/18 - $226.00 each
conti extreme contact dws uhp all seasons

has he run a 275 up front with 18s

yes. he had chrome 18" speedstars.
he had a flat front tire and the spare wouldn't fit over the big brakes. so he had to move a rear to the front and put the spare on the back.

no. pretty sure that would be fine.

thanks! i think im best off with 255/45/18s all around- no rubbing or clearance issues. going with the conti extreme contact DWS tires. now i have to decide if i want the speedstars or 18'' cobra R's :) not alot of people have the cobra R's on their marks, more people have the speedstars i think. i just might go with the 18'' cobras

Hey is your mark lowered at all? Do you have any issues with those cobra rims/tires rubbing on the rear fenders?

front is lowered a bit. no issues.
rear is stock ride height. i had slight rubbing, so i pulled the plastic fender edge things out and put in cobra bilsteins. zero rub since.

stock ride height you might be able to get away without rubbing, but if your lowered you with 275s or greater will need something, bilsteins, fender rolling, etc.

k im just gonna go with 255/45/18 all around to be safe with the 18'' cobra R's

Tire Heights

Stock tire is 225/60R16 which is a little more than 26 1/2 inches tall.

245/55R16 are also the same height.
235/55R16 are (as already stated) about 1/2" shorter than stock at 26"
245/50R16 are an inch shorter at about 25 1/2"
265/50R16 are closer to stock height (only like an 1/8" shorter), but are harder to find.
255/50R16 are also only 1/2" shorter than stock at about 26" tall.

295/40R16 are almost 1 1/2" shorter, but they're like 2 3/4" WIDER

18's I haven't had ANY experience with - have to hit the tire height calc!
