Hey guys I have a LS8 with stock 16" wheels it needs a set of tires.

I know the stock tire size is 215/60/16, and I'd like to step up alittle to a 225/60/16.

What tire sizes are you guys running on your 16's?? I'm looking at these tires http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...S&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=5

I want to step up to some 17's or 18's, but that's way down the road...I'm to busy buying parts for my Buick :)

You're probably going to want to go closer to 225/55R16; 225/60R16 is going to be a taller tire, and will throw your speedo off. I haven't done the calculations, but I think 225/55R16 is close to stock diameter...

the 215's are 26.16" according to my tire calculator, and the 255 60's are 26.63"

225 55's are 25.74 and I'd rather my speedo be off slow, plus a taller tire will bring down the RPM's at cruise (granted we are talkin next to nothing of a difference, but I'd rather have slightly taller tires then shorter tires).

Not to mention I like the tire choices in the 225/60 size better.

Thats pretty amazing, i just bought the exact same tire two weeks ago. For $83 you cant beat it, i went with discount tire direct w/ free shipping. I posted a pic of the new tire a couple weeks ago.

The guys at the tire shop were giving me sh!t about the change in size but there is a ton of clearance once its on. According to the calculations it makes the speedo about 1 1/2 mph to slow (so if the speedo reads 68.5, your going 70). I havent noticed anything significant. But what a great V rated directional tire. I'd say go for it.

Sweet, that the kind of feedback I was looking for....yeah the $83 price tag is a BIG selling point for me.

Falken ZIEX ZE-512 235-55VR-16 are what I used. Within 0.1" of the same height as 215-60-16s. Unidirectional tread, sheds water like a duck, great traction and cornering, WAY better than the stock Firehawks.

I wasn't sure if a 235 tire would fit all that well, I'm VERY glad you replied...The Falken's are sounding like my new choice.

I had also looked at 255-width tires, but the factory 16" rims were barely wide enough to safely accomodate those, so I backed down to 235s. I got mine from Discount Tire for just under $120/ea + mt/bal/tax.

They are 85 bux a piece on discount tire right now.

What about a 245 50...I mean I know it's a half inch short, but for some wide tires I would give up some speedo accuracy.

I just dropped my car off Im going with another set of 225/60/16 on my LS6.....my speedo is of about .5-1 miles at 50...... I went with goodyear comfort series....80,000 miles (I have 50,000 bridgestones and I only got 27,xxx out of them I dont spin the tires and they have 30 psi every day I check) They went bald in the center as if they were over inflated but they arent??? What up with that?????(rear tires)

Did you rotate them correctly?? Most cars wear the rear tires in the center and the front tires on the edges...This is the reason for rotating them.

No i didnt cause I was running 225 in the rear and the stock 215 up front I was told at the time that I couldnt fit a 225 on the front But I was also told that the Rear end of the LS was not adjustable for alignment....BS I found out the rear was way off but thanks to SEAR I spent 69.99 on a FAKE alignment!!! So I am good to go this time around thanks to a new and family owned tire shop......

Yeah I got some 225/60/16 good year assuances for 110 a tire (not to bad for a local) I found them online for 93 each but then 35 bucks shipping for all four and I would have to wait and pay to have them put on so I wouldnt have saved to much.....
