just want to wish everyone good luck and hope we all get spared a little. looks like Fay is going to be my first west coast tropical storm/ hurricane if it strengthens. its projected path is bringing it right up the coast swiping right by where i live. if it puts its eastern edge along the coast i could be in trouble at my house being 3/4 of a mile from the gulf shore they say storm surge could be 10 to 15 feet which would easily push the gulf waters to my neighborhood. if we get the western edge of the storm they predict tons of rain and 80-95 mph sustained winds with gusts around 100 mph. i have lived here for over 5 years now and only saw 60 to 70 mph winds back in 04 with charlie and that was awesome, it doesnt sound like much but it was enough to knock out the sub station behind my old house for 22 hours and dumped so much rain and knocked all kinds of trees and power lines down, and even knocked a huge car port down on a condo in dunedin on top of about 30 cars. so even though they only predict cat 1 hurricane, its still serious enough to not ignore and since its path is directly in my direction, i'm staying alert on this one. i know other members here are in florida so i'm wishing you well, no matter where this one goes, the entire state is going to feel it from coast to coast. be safe everyone.
i'm just west of where the word tampa is right along the water, we already have watch's and it isnt supposed to be here till tuesday, but feeder bands are already hitting miami and fort meyers.
