To those that have a custom tune using an XCAL

I have a 2000 LS8 and recently bought a custom tune from ILLS and I love how much better my car drives and shifts. Only problem, if you want to call it that, is that my car idles like it has a mild cam when I first start it in the morning. It only does it for the first time of the day and only when I first put it in drive or reverse. The car doesn't skip a beat when I get on the throttle. Is this normal?
 
Not knowing how radical of a tune it would be hard to say, my Torrie tune doesn't.
 
Alright well I don't think it was that crazy of a tune. Did torrie leave you the option to change some of your parameters? Did you adjust anything?
 
Yes, and I received three tunes; very aggressive race, aggressive shift performance, and performance. I did dial back my daily driver performance line pressure for I do a lot of stop & go and it would just lurch a bit too much, very happy with my tunes. Tunes, CIA, and SS brake lines best $800 performance investment.
 
dang man u been driving that car a min huh i moved from hattiesburg two and half years ago and u had itthem beatn down the block
 
usually... the just mild bolt-on mods the tuners not not touch closed-loop tuning - meaning if you have an air filter, exhaust, ...etc - the PCM will still control your AFR using the O2 sensor and stock PCM parameters.

The tune only deals with WOT (open-loop) conditions where the PCM uses internal tables to look up values for AFR.

So they may change rev limiters, top speed limiters, shift-firmness, shift points, ...etc - but do not change the drivability unless you are are WOT.

now, if you have changed fuel injectors... different story.

which tune is which? the names on the tuner are rather confusing.
I have 93 octane, firm shift, and M transchedule...which is "very aggressive race, aggressive shift performance, and performance"? Im currently using the firm shift tune and i love it.

Call the tunes anything you want: 1st tune very aggressive shifting and higher octane, 2nd tune less aggressive but still very firm shift, and 3rd being my daily driver, positive shifts but not the lunging, WOT will still squawk the tires going into 3rd.

Ok Quik so you are saying that it is normal seeing I have weld-in mufflers and a CAI. Like I said, it doesn't change at all on how it drives or performs. Thanks for the response and I knew I could count on you or Joe to chime in with help.

Not exactly sure what you mean by WOT, can you explain please?

Change your idle rpm setting. It may be set real low.
 
Is there a significant power gain from the tunes on the Gen1 or Gen2 LS?
