I promise to nicer if you promise to be smarter.
I'm going to be called all sorts of names for this post, but really, idngaf.

While LvC likes new members (and I'm sure Joey likes new potential Gold Members), please take the time to at least use the search feature before asking simple questions like... oh, I don't know... How do I bleed my coolant? Or, how do I open my car's door? Or.. whatever.

I have noticed that as of late, we have a lot of n00bs asking really simple questions.

That in itself is fine. We're here to answer questions for the n00bs, and help each other out. But if the n00b has no motivation (or smarts) to use the search function, then I reserve the right to not help him/her out. The same goes for the n00bs who can't properly structure a simple sentence or paragraph.

If the n00b has a thin skin, again, said n00b is getting no help from me.

So, hence forth, unless you have more than 50 posts, or have shown you have a thick skin, don't bother PM'ing me for answers to your questions. I'll just ignore them.

With that said, I know there are guys here who know a hell of a lot more than I do about the Mark VIII. For me to say I'm the "Daddy of Mark VIII knowledge" would be nothing short of assinine. But at the same time, there are very few of the Mark VIII guys who've pulled their motors, rebuilt entire Mark VIII suspensions, and have run into just about every issue out there in regards to the Mark VIII. Yes, there are some guys here who can tell you what's wrong with your car by just reading your post, but couldn't tell you where the ABS relay, for example, is.

Cliff notes:

Less than 50 posts... go away unless I like you or I feel like taking the time to post.

Watch me get Banned by Joey now... :shifty:

Good Comments Frogman.. You should also add a comment about noobs or anyone that post-whores.
They:
1) Have little to no experience in the subject they start making claims about.
2) They're closed minded in the fact that they think what they have is the latest and greatest and everything else sucks.
3) When they do ask a question and they don't get an answer they like or they don't understand the answer, they start crying and bitchin like little babies.

I'm sure everyone has fit into these categories at one time or another. It just pains me to keep reading post after post after post where noobs or anyone has just put a post just to get post #'s. AND! they're answers are all the same. Having poor writing/grammar skills, and half-ass answers.

Oh now Nick... good thing you misses all the fun in the beginning of LvC when Dave, Ray, Joey, Bryan, Pepps, and even sometimes myself (LOL) had a little fun.. But then we did keep it in the Anything Goes Forum.. LOL...

And even Pepps provides a service for those who are not as car savy in the Gold Members Forum LOL...

And Yes Frogman you do have some points and your advice is very supportive to LvC...

But one thing that I don't want to have happen on LvC is that someone like myself when I first started...

When I first started on LvC my problem was the Door Ajar issue... I never used a forum like this and didn't know what really to do..

LvC members I found were very friendly and not like members on LOD, LOL, FvC. This is why I made my home at LvC...

I was very green when it came to working on cars... But the membership here taught me a lot and took away my fear of diving into my Mark VIIIs and fixing my problems myself and for a lot less...

I have learned a lot from LvC and from my Mark VIIIs... Thanks LvC...

Oh and "Who's your Mark VIII Daddy Frogman" LOL...

Frogman you offer a lot of good support and advice.... one because you do know more than your average Mark VIII owner, and two that you do reply to most posts even if it's only to say use the search function... LOL...

I doubt that Joey would ban you.. There are those who have done much worse... and offered much less help....

Thanks Frogman... I was going to use the "H" word but LOL... I'll leave that up to Debi...

The stupid posts aren't coming from middle-aged guys unfamiliar with computers or message boards. They seem to be most often coming from teenagers who don't want to bother spending the time to use the search engine.

Frogman, I know that I'm relatively young, but I'd like to throw you my opinion. The n00bs, derelicts, morons, fools, and all other iterations of "nuisance" posters will never stop. There may appear to be an influx now, but they've always come and gone, and they will continue to do so. It's the same as in life. You can't let every stupid person in the world that in some way affects your life...affect your life. There's nothing to be gained from it. You are right; there are people that come here and are too lazy to look for the answers, too thick-headed to listen, too stubborn to believe anyone who knows more than they do, or in general just too ignorant to utilize common sense. The thing is, they aren't going to read this thread anyway, so you're just preaching to the choir, and hopefully blowing off stem to make yourself feel better. You just need to let it go, and if someone asks a "stupid" question that you don't want to answer, just don't. It's easier than posting something negative, and you'll have spent one less minute of your life living with a negative attitude because somebody else is a dumbass. My opinion is that you are actually the one who needs to grow a thicker skin, and I mean that in only a helpful manner. If you can just glaze over the piles of "stupid" threads and posts that come through here, you don't have to worry about it. You can't change stupid people, and in this country you can't shoot them either...so that means we just have to find a way to live with them. That just means being thick-skinned and either ignoring them, or putting up with them. My 2¢.

They seem to be most often coming from teenagers who don't want to bother spending the time to use the search engine.

which also seem to be the ones to come off as these internet tough guys. this becomes quite amusing though because of how quickly they get destroyed verbally and they don't have the intellect to come back with anything.

If I had a dime for every time I read one of these posts on a message board I could afford some Nology wires.

I could afford some Nology wires.

I thought we discussed this issue...:shifty: Oops was this post whoring? or just having fun with friends...

I do agree if there is a stupid post or thread then ignore it...

Now where do I get those curtains:D and how much added hp can I get from that spinner thing for my tips..

There is a place for seriousness and yet this is also a social place for fun...

As Joey has put it for us who have no life but to be on LvC... LOL...

Frogman i am altering your prescription to include happy pills and PROZAC. :D

Um, I need help..

Everytime I hit my Keyless entry key pad above my door handle, it lights up. Is this normal? I think a small fire keeps on getting started or there's a really-long spark happening.

Any help is appreciated! :D
