Took mespock's old car to the drag strip

I decided since Stanton was having test and Tune tonight to go and see what the Mark VII would do, even with a slipping tranny. I drove 2 hours to get there and after tech went straight to the line. First run with the heat soaked engine was a 15.416 at 92.62 with me leaving it in drive. I knew that I needed to let the car cool down some before running again so I opened the hood for about 30 minutes to let her cool down. I was going to ice the intake to help it cool down stone cold, but unfortunately they had the ice boxes locked up. I only managed to get the temp down to between the A and L in normal. I decided to shift myself the next time and ran a 15.04 at 94.47. I let her cool down again to the same point and it ran a 15.05 at 94.79. I tried 3 more runs but could not improve on it.
I have my baseline but I know that there is more in it. If I had been able to get it bone dead cold and iced down I know for a fact that I could have trapped over 96 and most likely ran a high 14. The tranny also could not decide to shift into second gear for about a second as I have still not fixed the tranny, something that will be taken care of within the next 2 weeks. This more than likely cost me at least a .10th. The OD swith also does not work, I don't know if that mattered or not. I also had a full tank of gas and the spare and jack still in the back to help with traction. I plan on going back when I get the tranny fixed to see what she will run bone dead cold. I feel she has some 14.7's in it stock, then the mods will begin. Since I have given the car to my wife and it is her daily driver I only want high 13's at around 100 out of it. That should be fast enough for her.
I was happy the car ran what it did with the tranny problems.

Is the post that boring that it didn't get a single comment?

Nic job, you will definently reach 14's stock, just get some nice weather and do a little tune up and you got it.

Keep it up ! :Beer

i am surprised that your car ran that slowly "heat soaked" - my car actually ran better coming in off the highway than it did later on that night, tho i think that was due to track conditions. weather permitting I am going back tomorrow night to work on my shifting technique.

Not bad on a slipping tranny, hard to believe... What year is it?

It's a 94. It needs the MLPS replaced which I have already bought and the 1-2 accumulator replaced. I was surprised it ran that strong, it's faster than my 90 AOD hatch was stock (15.2 at 90).

Lydell the Guy who bought my Cobra R's went 14.94 @ 95.8 with a slipping transmission too. Unreal these cars can do these times.

Dang, wifes have all the luck! Nice job - any pics?

I will get some up the end of next week when I get the new body panels on. I am picking up a grill, corner light and drivers side fender Saturday.

My car is a Mark VIII, not a VII. This is the 94 I bought from him after he hit a deer, I now have the parts in the car to fix the damage after getting back from northern Michigan this afternoon.
