Could this part going bad be the cause of the "rumble strip" effect or 30-35 mile per hour shudder when accelerating moderately? When I described this problem previously it seemed like everyone thought it was a bad torque converter. But if this solenoid could be the cause I'll be very happy I dont have to swap the converter itself. I guess my question is could the solenoid cause this kind of problem?

Its not the TCC switch. It is the converter for sure. But you can band aid it along with a fresh flush and fill of synthetic fluid.

Hi is right almost a year ago when i got mine it was doing same thing and all i had to do was drain all the fluid out of the tranny and change to mercron 5 ats a bit pricey but will work well . when you do this if the tranny has a lot of miles on it dont have it flushed to it by hand lol and drain all fluid out includeing the torque converter it has a small plug on bottom to remove the fluid in it while your in there go ahead and locate the parts for you 1-2 accumulator they are avalible at ford dealer for about 50.00 if you need axact info on accumulator then do a search on yahoo and there is a giy that posted pics ect that tell you axactlly how thanks dave

Get it flushed NOW. It may buy you a few months before you have to rebuild the tranny with a new TC.

I already got it flushed a few weeks ago to try and cure the problem. I had it done at jiffy lube for $90

Did they refill with Mercon V? I would guess not as it is much more expensive, and you usually got to tell these folks exactly what you want.

You don't need Mercon V if they use III with the special additive. That's just as good. That's what they did on mine.
