I was told by a local shop that my torque converter is bad. They wanted 1180.00 to do it which I found to be ridiculous...So I then called a trans shop and they quoted me 720.00. Its not bad as in driving but it makes a lot of noise...so I decided to look online at Rockauto.com and I couldn't find one, I mean its not a dealer part is it?.....and then I was told that my car needs 7 quarts of oil and a special filter to do a proper oil change....I don't even know if it has a oil cooler which I need to know to get the right filter I guess....any info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys!!

is it a sport model? if yes, then you have an oil cooler.

if you don't know if you have a sport or not, do a little searching, it was just talked about the other day...

And, the only "special" filter it needs is a Wix 57302. It's "special" because out of all the different oil filters Wix sells it's the only one that fits on the LS. Side screw, right under the engine where it's easy to get at. If you have ramps, an oil change pan, a compression style oil filter wrench and a half hour you can change it yourself.

On the torque converter O'Reilly's sells a Pro King converter for 425 bucks. 720 bucks wouldn't be bad considering the labor involved to back the trans off, install a converter then reinstall and get the fluid levels correct. I have never used one of their torque converters before so I have no opinion as to their quality, they were just the first one I came across.
