found this Mark VIII on e-bay. 45000 miles mint condition, except the head light got shoved into the fender, i think i would have tried to save it, don't think it would be considered totaled:confused:
he wants $2500:confused:

interesting color. and looks like the hood was tweaked, i had a salesman at my job back over the right front corner and put a tiny wrinkle in my hood, my body guy said the hood would total the car, and he was right the hood alone was 3k new!!! thats why i had it fixed instead of replaced. so 3k for the hood, 700 for new headlamp assys so theres 3700 in some of the parts plus a fender, header panel, bumper cover plus labor........equals totaled

both of those cars above are certificate of destructions, good luck doing anything with them, except parting them out. to my knowledge the only state you can fix and retitle a C.O.D is texas. i dont know how true it is, but i do know its almost more problem and cost to do anything with a C.O.D car except use it to fix a car with a clear title.

there is a guy on this site that has a massive amount of parts at his shop,,he even has pics on myspace ,,,he has everything from Brains & Harness to HOODS AND bUMPERS ,,,I cant remember his member name ,,but its something like gtx68 or gxt68,,somthing like that ,,,check myspace for ,,put in mark VIII,,,,he might help or try TEAM FORD in Vegas..Bill Jenkins

You can just buy a aftermarket hood from a few places,,,

lol that is me, but all the straight parts in the world won thelp those C.O.D titles!

I bought all the parts to fix my 96 for a little over $550. Bumpercover, header panel, headlight lense, corner marker, grille, headlight adjusters (new), hood(thanks k9t8m). Mine is only a salvage title, wonder why they labled these cars for destruction.

It did blow both of my airbags and I haven't purchased those yet but am working with jamie on it.

If I could get one for under $1000, I'd consider it, just for parts and the motor. Swap the 116,xxx out of my 97 with a 4x,xxx mile motor. Then find something like a cheap two-wheel drive ranger and drop the extra motor in, for some fun!!!!

I asked a buddy of mine that buys crap like this with his dad around the country. He said he heard of a rebuilt or reconstructed title that can save a car from the COD, but he's never done it and doesnt know how involved a process it is.

I would bet that once you got that car disasembled in the garage there would be a lot more damage than those pictures would ever tell...

There's a lot going on under the driver side fender. ABS crap, that thermactor. I was surprised when I was in there at all the stuff, lol.

True, but the fender damage doesn't look like it's down low enough to impact all that stuff.

How about titling it in another country (Canada)? I'd love to pick something like this up, if I had the cash and time to drive to FL and get it....

There's always the idea of throwing a fake VIN on it. No I don't care that it's illegal.

You might not care... but there are people who do (insurance companies, police) but GREAT IDEA:rolleyes:

correct the cars damage is not that bad looks just like mine after I crashed it
I dont know why the car is C.O.D for a car to be that it has to be damaged to 80% of the cars value or unrebuildable. just talk to your state or Canada to see if it can be retitled in your area

i bought a gorgeous light portofino blue with dk portofino blue mark a few years ago from copart salvage auction in tampa. the car looked absolutely mint, it was such a pretty looking car, in awesome shape, and was a C.O.D i couldnt believe it? the story was, the car was rear ended, repaired, brought for dot inspection and failed, why i have no idea, whoever fixed it did a perfect job, at least in my eyes, but they issued it a C.O.D i was actually a little torn up over having to take it apart, i wanted to keep it for myself so bad it was that nice looking.

What the heck is COD? Besides cash on delivery....

ninja edit: never mind, read the auction.

Dont have that crap up here thank god.

My last car was a 91 merc grand marquis. Had no exhaust. Got a ticket (after 4.5 yrs with no exhaust) down by Pewaukee. I went in an asked what I have to do to avoid having to fix it within the 10 days. Selling it wasnt an option. The option was either have a junk yard stamp the titled as destroyed and bring in a copy or fix it. I didnt fix it. Showed up to the court date, they fined my $52. I asked the judge about if I still need to fix it. He laughed and said you pay'd your fine and thats all they care about.

I carried around the warning then in my car. I got pulled over twice more that winter (stupid cold weather showing exhaust coming from everywhere) and told them I already have a notice.

Long story short. I dont think we have those kind of titles here.

We have salvage titles in MN.... but you can still register, sell, drive, the car afterward... it just stays with the titles as a warning.

i call bs, jamie sad about parting a mark :bsflag:

oh what now i have no feeling, i am human, chicken you should have felt the knot in my stomach when i started taking my 97 lsc apart, no joking, i felt sick to my stomach, i couldnt decide if i was doing the right thing, or if i was in a whole heap of trouble. luckily it worked out for the best and i bought my 98 lsc. but this blue one i took apart, it truely was a shame, it was way way to nice to be considered a parts car, but i couldnt do anything about it. trust me, just because i tear them apart left and right doesnt mean a few of them havent made me a little upset to yank apart, i have taken apart a few of them that were just way too nice, but with cod's thats all i am gonna do with them.
