The wind resistance will kill you more than anything.
I've had a '99 Navi' and currently have a 2010 model that I regularly use to tow an open car trailer with a 4000 lb Mark VIII. The 2010 does a better job with the 6 speed transmission.
The air suspension is where it shines and your tongue load should be just fine. The gross towing weight is close to 8000 lb capacity if I recall correctly so a 5000 lb load won't be bad.
