traction control off or on

this may be a stupid question but who cares, right. do you get better gas mileage with the the traction control on or off or does it not make a difference. also does anyone have a good site to get some black 20" rims.

well it shouldn't matter if its on or off for mileage. i would guess that if it was off there would be slightly better mileage because the traction control cuts off your engine if its engauged but not enough to be noticed.

rims are a bit of a pain to find. The lignut pattern is unique in this car. You will be looking for a FWD offset even though its a RWD car. Also any bigger then 8.5" wide and it will stick out. Look for rims that have a center hub cap where you can't see the lug nuts because most likely its covered because the rims are intended to be drilled to custom fit the lug pattern. I got my rims and tires for $2000 from a local shop here in socal called Salenas tires. After a week or so with them i realized that my friend worked there and i could have gotten them at cost. oh well. hope this helpes. BTW some people think that 20"s are too big for this car, I disagree but heres a picture of mine.

the traction control setup cuts in when ever then control module believes one wheel is moving more than another.

This means - the brakes are applies often. yes this hurts your mileage, not as much as the v8 under WOT does...
 
Actually, I have felt a power loss ever since the light came on. If I could bypass the whole feature I would do it. Traction control is nothing but a nuisance -espessially in the snow.

The light comes on after I go about 5 mph along w/ the abs light.

i dont know what car you're talking about, but in my 2000 v6 ls, there is a button, i can either push the button to turn the traction control off, or leave it on...

Thats what I was thinking, but I thought I missed something.

I turn it off just about everytime i hop in the car. I would say 99% of the time it is off and i have not noticed any gains in fuel economy
 
Unless you're spinning the tires I'd be surprised you saw any difference at all. I leave mine on, and there's only one place that it ever turns on. I make a hard right uphill turn that always has grit on it when I'm on the way to a call. That's the only time I turn it off, but as soon as I'm on the road, it goes back on.
