i'm thinking about getting a new tranny put in. the problem i'm having with the one that is in now is that i have to be over 3500 rpm's for it to move most of the time and when it does move, the car shudders when it shifts from 1 to 2 but i don't think it does from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 and it seems to go ok in reverse. i have a tranny with 112000 on it for 300 plus the old one to give back to them. from with i've been reading it isnt' a problem with the torque converter because if it were the tc it would be a shudder from the 3-4 shift and i don't think that's been a problem. i think all i need is a flush. i added a bottle of lucas tranny stop stuff drove the car around town but it didn't run any better if not worse. i don't want to spend more money that i already have. it's putting me in the poor house. put the car up for sale i got so hopeless but nobody wants a car with a bum tranny.:( please, if anyone can help it would be wonderful

you can always do the flush... remember use Mercon V to stay Alive! what year is the mark? did you do the 1-2 accumalator fix? check out the tech section on the 1-2 accumalator repair! good luck

 so bottom line, would it be cheeper to get the newer tranny at 112000 for 300 or should i go and replace the fliters and things, 1-2 actuators or whatever, the tc and get a flush? and if that still doesn't work, i'll have to still change the tranny. idk, i'm tired of the car by now, love it to death but it's getting crazy how much money i've waisted so far. i have to have this car on the road by new years so i can take my class and get to work

Do you have the means to swap transmissions yourself, or will you be at the merci of a shop? It says you have a '93 Mark VIII.

The 1-2 accumulator, transmission flush, and filter change is reasonably basic enough to do in the driveway without much complication or too many tools. A tranny swap is a different beast.

but do you think that those thing will fix the problem? i have the mean to change the tranny, my brother has a shop with the lift and everything. i'll pay a small amount to have it put in but if it cheeper and easy to change those things, that would be great, idk.

also, do you guys know, do i need to pull the engine to get the tranny out or can i drop it out the bottom. i know some cars wont allow you to do it the easy way
