Tranny

I still think they were AOD trannies at that time, otherwise it's AODE (waste). 4R70W is better anyways...

The 4R70W is crap on a 93 Mark..I thought the AODE Tranny's were stronger
So the 92 Town car tranny bolts into my Mark or is there lots of changes..
Thanks
Mike

Well the 4R70W has stronger internals and a different gear side but aside from that it's basically a AODE, Which is what a 1992 Town Car has so everything should hook up fine. If anything you will have to re-pin the electrical connector but other than that should be plug and play.

Gearing for example:

AOD-E 4R70W
1st 2.40 2.84
2nd 1.47 1.53
3rd 1.00 1.00

So the gearing from the aod-e is better or worst?
Still learning
Thanks

The gearing is more aggressive in the 4R70W (sold in the FRP catalog as the wide ratio kit) and makes up a bit for the tall gearing in the stock Mark VIII rear. With the AODE the car would be slower.
