Which transmission line going to the raditator is the return line to the transmission? the top or bottom?

Thanks.

Hot fluid enters the radiator/heat-exchanger through the bottom and comes out the top to flow back to the transmission.

Thanks, I just wanted to make certain that I was going to use the correct line.

Thanks, Rich

OK , let me ask this. Who here has actually took there transmission line off to see which way the fluid flows on a Mark VIII? I just wanna make sure that I get it correct. I tried feeling the temps of the lines but couldn't really tell.

Ok... I got it installed and found a great site that has some good info on transmissions. http://www.txchange.com/main.htm Yes the top line is indeed the return line! :D Thanks to those of you who pointed that out.

The link I posted earlier was for a mark VII DUH! I didn't read it very well, I guess that's why it had reversed instructions. Well, one less thing that I have to worry about in the soon to be 110-115 degree weather! And that's in the shade!!!

I put a trans cooler in last week. I have a 94 and the top line is the out flow. If you want to check for sure just remove the top line and have someone start the car for a second or 2 while you watch. Be ready it flows FAST! A jar would be a good thing to have.

Never mind!! You got it. It looks just like mine.

Thanks! Yep, its the top one. My cooler came off of an older mercury full size car. It was a engine oil cooler but I figured that it would work nicely for a trans cooler as well. I have been meaning to due it for a while but was just too lazy. With the heat here I figured that I better get it done.
