Well my friends marks transmission slips really badly. But not until it gets hot, when he starts it up it drives fine for a while, but eventually starts slipping like crazy. What could be wrong?

Its getting old...

How many miles on it?

You can try a trans fluid change if it hasnt been too long since the last one - make sure you use Mercon V fluid...

Also - pop in a bottle of Lucas Tranmission Treatment.

Be planning on a new tranny at some point. But drive this one til it dies.

I've had problems with my 94 Mk VIII trans too. Would slip in first. Fluid was low I topped it up now its ok. Dipstick tube o-ring needs replacing. I drove the car in the rain the other day and had problems which seem like TV cable problems on Mk VII. RPM's increase on top gear for no reason and car slows down. Never had the problem before and took it out a few days later on dry roads problem is gone.

Wow yeah his started in the rain... but his car wont even move now i told him to drive it till it broke, now its broke lol

Started in the rain

I thought maybe some transmission control connectors or ??? got wet in the rain and affected trans shifting?? Trans still working fine...and sometimes I run it hard. Who knows maybe it'll blow up next trip. I'm going to change oil + 1-2 accumulator later if it survives.
