Back in february, I met Dave...local fella who lives in a town just south of me. He had recently aquired a 96 base "performance white/graphite" Mark VIII...less than 45k miles on it...and it was a beaut.

I saw it parked behind Max's opalescent 96 base, and until then, I had no idea how WHITE a perf. white Mark VIII was.

Anyway, the car, with its BONE STOCK appearance, low miles, and completely un-molested engine compartment was as plane-jane as a mark VIII gets. neutral color, not too flashy, not slammed...just plane. I liked it. it was like a blank canvas just waiting for me.

Dave decided he wanted to make a *few* ;-) changes to the car. we took a quick blast down the street in my car, and he got his first taste of JMOD, and lowered coil conversion with fat swaybar. He was grinning.

So, we made a plan to "eventually" have some *things* done to his car.
FAST FORWARD TO MAY:
Dave heard my exhaust when we went on our cruise last month, and at the same time, his stock air bags were leaking(poor car was slamming all afternoon). I had yet to schedule any rack time for him, so he was getting pretty anxious to get his Mark on the operating table.

So, the next day...the transformation began. The vault had been open, and the metamorphasis of "Plane Jane" started in....in the making of "Nyt-N-Day"

The day after our cruise, I installed my slightly used coil conversion onto his car. http://www.markviii.org/htdocs/dc/d...&forum=25&topic_id=19334&mesg_id=19334&page=2

A week after that, he ran down to my buddy's muffler shop, and had some Dynomax race bullets installed. Since Dave's 96 has bumper cut outs, he was able to have some nice chrome oval tips installed as well, for a straight through flow. The car sounds evil. It sounds as healthy as a true domestic V8. I LOVE the new roar.

A few days after that, he ran it down to the tint shop to get rid of that "fish bowl" look of clear windows on a white car, with a light colored interior. HOLY COW the car looks amazing with darker tint.

Sunday(yesterday) I was fortunate enough to get my hands dirty on this ride. I installed MSD wires, motorcraft 12c plugs, drained the tranny/torque converter, replaced the old style 1-2 accumulator assembly, poured in a fresh batch of mercon V, added a tranny pan magnet(his was missing, yet the pan had never been off, as evidenced by the dip-stick plug rolling around in the pan). Then(heh heh) I installed his new SCT-4bank chip custom burned by Torrie McPhail at Ford parts network. The chip has 2 positions that were custom tailored by me. This was a more desireable option than the JMOD for now. And finally, we finished the day by installing the 1/2" wide chrome tape over the car's weathered chrome body inserts. it's a $30 fix that changes the car's appearance in a big way.

So, this beautiful, plane white 96 Mark VIII base model has been tranformed into this low-slung, rumbling beast, with an exhaust note that sends small children running for their mommies, has the power to back it up, the healthy tranny to take the abuse, and the looks to fend off ANYONE...who would ever think this car is driven by a granny.
The car has definately gone through a major transformation from it's Plane-jane look. The difference is... NYT N DAY.

Just need Dave to chime in, and post some pics...the exhaust pics, I feel, will start a trend...the look is hot, the price is out of site, and the sound...whoa....the sound will astound you.

Dave, we will have to hook up one day, and film a couple of clips for these folks to hear it, while they see it.

Another succesful Mark VIII weekend for Black Ice.

I wish I had a sister .... so you could marry her.

J/K....anyway, yea Buddy...we need to hook up.
BTW, I didnt burn the chip...it's just my programming ideas I forward to Torrie at FPN...he then burns them with the custom parameters.

They run about $300 and change for a 4-bank SCT chip.
