I FINALLY got the 04 LS on the road again! After replacing the shift solenoid and then putting the old one back in, because of a bad connector(this caused the car to start out in 4th gear and not shift), I was getting frustrated.
I checked my codes and got about seven codes.
So I deduced it was the connector.I bought a new one off Ebay, and wired it in. Got my gears back, shifting pretty good, BUT,I got the dreaded E code where my P,R,N,D5,etc. was supposed to show on the screen....AND the cooling fan came on as soon as I started it up.
SOooooo.......I gave it to Ford and asked them to diagnose. For 70 bucks they located a wire that had broken connection apparently when I spliced in the new connector. They said I could fix it if I wanted, but I told them to go ahead since they have the equipment to diagnose. Next day,for 175 bucks more, they had it fixed. It was the white with red stripe wire which sent tranny temp to PCM.
I'm a happy camper now,and the total fix with my expenses was about 350 bucks. I hope this might help someone someday.don-ohio :)^)

Very very strange. I too had this wire broken on my 00' v6 after the tranny swap. Co-incidence maybe?

Those wires aren't very tough. Just a few strands per wire and the connector itself is pretty weird.
Well,I'm sure glad that Ford could diagnose it.WONDERFUL to have that car back! don-ohio :)^)
