Transmission filter question.

I need to change my transmission filter, and I am wondering if anyone can tell me how much fluid I will need. I have the filter and gasket, but I recall reading that the gasket is re-useable. I know everyone is going to say use merconV, but I can't afford to do that right now....just going to use the regular mercon stuff. I know the car has had it's fluid changed often through it's life becuase when my parents bought it the salesman told them to make sure that they did. The fluid is very clean in this car.

13 quarts, have an extra laying around.
Use a 1998+ trans filter!
Gasket is resusable.

MERCON V! No excuses!

13 quarts even if i am not draining the torque converter?

If you aren't draining the torque converter, you might as well not change the fluid.

You got a choice to make, you can do it right and drain ALL the fluid and then refill the car with Mercon V (I also like putting in a bottle of Lubeguard), or you can start saving for a new transmission.

If you can't afford Mercon V, I'm betting you REALLY can't afford a new transmission.

skip the mercon v ,do what the trans shops do, go to napa and buy a bottle of:
Lubegard M-V

LUBEGARD M-V Automatic Transmission Fluid Supplement is formulated utilizing the patented & OEM endorsed synthetic LUBEGARD LXE Technology and a new synthetic additive Synergol TMS to enhance DEXRON/MERCON ATF to provide a MERCON V type ATF.
