I have a 04 LSE with 48K on it. My problem occurs when I am trying to keep a constant speed on the highway or in the city. It feels like the transmission is grabbing a little when I let on and off the throttle slowly...somewhat like the torque converter can't decide whether to engage or not. The only thing I have changed since this problem started was installing a Typhoon cold air intake. I really doubt that is the problem but I figured I'd throw it out there. Could a simple transmission flush fix this or does it sound something like a solenoid? I tried disconnecting the battery already but that didn't do much. Any help would be appreciated. I just came off warranty and I'm trying to do some research before I get porked by the dealer. Thanks

Unless you timed out on the warranty a re-flash could help and be covered.

typical transmission issue is during shifting - not usually at constant speed.

the issue you are describing sounds more like bad coil(s) which causes a very minor misfire - the car tends to 'pause' for a split second. Most times people think it's a transmission issue.

i know what hes talking about i think.

your on the highway. you let off the gas. get back on it and it the rpms shoot up past what they were at when you let off. and then after about 2 seconds it drops back down to what you were at.

mine does this at stop signs and highway. ill come to a 1mph roll, hit the gas the engine will rev up befor transmission starts to move the car.

if this is the problem your talking about.. as far as i know its normal. just extremly hard to get used to.

I think Quik LS might have something. I did notice the idle seemed to be a little off but it was hard to tell. I never put the two problems together though. I know it definitely isn't normal and happened soon after I installed the intake. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them needs to be replaced...I've been getting on the gas more than usual because I love the sound of the CAI. :D
I just got a letter from Ford saying the coil packs were covered for a few additional years after the factory warranty runs out. Hopefully that will remedy the problem....I'll find out this week. Thanks guys

yep - if you look at all the trannie issues reported - 90% are coils and slight mis-fires. Hopefully that's your issue - it's a $45 coil and may infact be covered....

don't take it to the dealer with out a check engine light or its a waste of time.. they wont just give you new coils for nothin

Well I guess that depends on what dealer you bring it to. I sent mine in for something totally unrelated and they replaced a few misfiring coils anyway. I didn't even have a check engine light on.
