Hello everyone many months ago i purchased a 94 mark viii that had a blown motor. I recently finished installing a low mile engine and am now driving the car. I really love the way it drives runs smooth with tons of power. My latest concern is that over the past few days, increasingly tonight, the trans jumps out of gear when the throttle is fully depressed quickly. It shifts very firmly and when it should otherwise. When this happens the engine will rev straight to the red line and bang back into gear with zero slippage. Fluid and filter are new. It also has a transgo shift kit which was installed before i bought the car so long before this condition started. Is it likely i will have to replace the trans? Or could the mlps cause symptoms this severe?

Could be the mlps. When mine went out on a crown victoria it would jump out of gear and neutral out at random moments. Probably best to let go of the throttle when it happens

I did buy a new mlps but wanted to get some opinions first. Is there any adjustment to the shifter in these cars? i was also thinking maybe the manual valve was stuck between gears because of a linkage problem.

high rate of failure. they just don't work.
something about the machining tolerances of the trans.

I knew it was too good to be true that some part of this car would be in good working order without the need for extensive repairs.

Good news! The new mlps solved my shifting problem. The old sensor was cracked in several places including the mounting bosses so im not surprised it failed. Water was probably getting in too via one of the cracks. It was the original ford sensor from 94 i bet.
