Something just hit me today....

I bought my LS when it had about 48k miles on it and now it's pushing 100k...
and I've yet to change the transmission oil.

Is this really bad?

I guess I just havent thought about it. I do the Motor oil changes regularly along with other maintanence like air filter, etc. Dont know much about transmissions...
How often do you guys change?

Some people have suggested changing the tranny oil at 60K miles, but officially, there's no service interval on the LS's auto transmissions--they're "sealed for life."

And, as I've posted before, the advice given to me by an old transmission man was to let sleeping dogs lie if the tranny hasn't been regularly serviced. He said it's very common for people to service transmissions at high mileage, only to have them need a complete rebuild in very short order. The theory is that it either dislodges the sludge that was keeping the tranny functioning, or it dislodges gunk that clogs passages, killing the tranny via oil starvation.
