I can't seem to get the pan on right. It keeps getting blocked by either the linkage or the front rubber things on the exhaust. Then is there a good way to get to the crankshaft so i can turn the engine and check for a torque converter plug?

To turn over the engine to get the drain in view (or see of there is one) I take the plastic cover off the back of the solenoid and jump the the feed to the trigger and use the starter to do it. I used to have a Harbor Freight switch to do it but lost it, so just cross the two with a screw driver now.

what year? if its a 93-95, its easy enough to put a socket on the crank bolt.

the pan is a trick to remove, but you'll figure it out eventually.
