My 94 Mark with 185k on it started leaking trans fluid pretty badly. I kept pouring new fluid in, but not fast enough apparently. The car was slipping in and out of gear and shuddering for 2 days before I could get it to the shop.

I dropped it off at Lee Myles Transmissions this morning and the car practically wouldn't move from a stop. It's like it had no first gear, but once I got enough momentum to get to second it rode fine. I hope I didn't burn anything out. The trans shop should call by noon with an estimate. Wish me luck!

I might be parting this thing out if the estimate is too expensive.

Lee Myles transmissions called and said that my car was leaking trans fluid like crazy from the front pump. They said it would cost $385 just to take it apart and look at it and determine what it needs. I asked what the maxmimum price would be if they had to rebuild it and they guy wouldn't even give me a figure. At this point I realize he could charge me what he wants once the tranny is out. I got a bad feeling, so called 2 other shops and they quoted me at $1400 and $1500 maximum for a rebuilt trans. I called the guy back at Lee Myles and told him I didn't want to spend more than $1200, and he told me that I might as well pick the car up and take it somewhere else.

I don't have much of a choice, so I am going to have it towed to the one of the other shops hope that it won't cost the maximum.

I am wondering if it is even worth it. The car has 185k on it. It leaks some oil, leaks some coolant and has an engine knock. It will also need rear bags real soon. Would I be better off parting this thing out now, or should I have the trans rebuild and then keep it or try to sell it? I would like to get a gen 2 eventually.

Should have called me up, again our bulletproof trans with converter, fluids and labor for $1650.00 plus tax.

Well keep in mind that you get what you paid for. Find a place that offers a warranty. I may have paid allot for mine but the guys did awesome work, they couldn't get it to work right so they pretty much rebuilt it 2 times and I have a new stall, clutches, bands, bushings, shafts, drums, seals, pistons, new valve body, mild shift kit. Every thing.

Have you had any recent problem with the engine, if its running good fix the tranny it's a good car don't part it out if you don't have to. How's the paint and interior?

Hey Geno. The first thing thought of was bringing it to you, but checked your website this morning and I realized that your shop is about 100 miles from me, and the car is not driveable. I figured that would cost me a ridiculous amount in towing. Anyone know what a tow like that usually costs? Do you know anyone that tows cheap?

If it were driveable, I would have taken it there first thing.

rent a car dolly and tow it your self, find a friend with a truck, i would get it down there if you can, it would be worth the tow

There is an engine knock, it leaks some oil and coolant and it will need rear bags soon. Also has a grapefruit sized dent in the drivers side door from my girlfriend's foot. This is sounding worse and worse. Do you think it's worth the repair?

If it is, I don't know if I can take it myself down to South Jersey. I'm going to have to make some calls.

Geno, I forgot, is that bulletproof trans rebuilt or new? Is there a warranty?

It's not pretty. But I told the guy at the second trans shop to go ahead and do it. I have to bite the bullt. I can't be without a car. I hope it turns out alright.

A guy has a 36,000 mile tranny on Ebay for $250 starting bid and there is an 87,000 mile one on there for $250 buy it now. If you are not looking to rebuild these would be good options. If the car is worth it to you then fix it, if not then part it out. Look for $200-$300 labor to put it in.

AAA gold is about $75 a year. If you get it you get 100 miles free towing.

I have a good set of rear bags I can sell you cheap off of my wrecked 96. I have a lot of good parts left, but the interior is gone (it's going to Mespock).

How many miles on the car when the bags came off?

The car had 106,000 miles, but I believe the bags have been replaced. The hold air fine, they haven't lost any since the car was wrecked 2 1/2 months ago.

uhh,a grapefruit size dent from girlfriend....umm i think she needs some fixing,if i was a guy and she did that to my car...*****see ya wouldnt wanna be ya! taah taah****

ye,question...when u got a tranny leak ok it obvious that it was on the floor but did u get any fumes from it....
i have a leak too, but lol my dealer mechanic said oh u need a new tranny...which is probaly full of fluid himself to say that.
im just wondering if u got any fumes comin thru to the interior of the car while driving.

No fumes, but on ocassion the fluid would smell from outside of the car because it leaked on to hot engine parts.
