transmission question

my 95 mark VIII shifts very smooth, almost too smooth if you ask me, my buddies 94 mark VIII shifts nice and firm, just enough to break the wheels lose from 1st to second. Is my trans in need of some work? could it be the 1-2... 3-4 acumilators that I hear about? thanks, Rich.

I would say no,It will shift hard when the Accumulators break.Not Vice versa

If your buddy doesnt have some type of shift enhancing device or kit, it would sound like his trans needs service.

What are the specs on your car? All of the stock VIII's I have ridden in or driven, pull timing, and have WAY to slow shift periods to break the tires loose. your buddy's car sounds like it either has a shift kit, or HIS accumulators are bad.


as long as your not having any problem with yours other than "soft" shifts, your fine.

I changed my Accumulator last year shortly after I got my 95. I get a chirp from 1 to 2 if I hit it hard at around 60 mph.

OK guys, thanks I feel a little better now. I thought maybe I had problems with mine. I don't know if the accumulators have ever been changed or not.
