Been having little trouble with the mark viii just before I put it away for winter, its a 93 with about 118 on the clock, when I start the car sometimes it’ll starts the first try an then other times it’ll take 5 times to start it now it seams to be getting worst slowly, if the car is warm or cold it does not matter, the last time it happen was before I put the car away for winter, I went in the garage the damn thing would not start a all it will crank over but nothing, I had to use my other car to get to work, when I got home I tried it again it start the first try! Not sure what’s Wong , I’m thinking the crank, or the cam sensor, but I’m really not sure , any ideal from any one would great! Thanks

Could be either of those sensors. But Im thinking weak fuel pump or something across those lines.Seems like its not primed with fuel.

You may have either the cam/crank position sensor(s) bad, or the wiring. I would check the connections that lead to the cam/crank sensor(s) to see if there is any corrosion, or a bad connection that would lead to the signals not getting to the sensor(s). If the wiring is good then I would replace both the sensors, they are relatively cheap, and really easy to replace. Call Max at Five Star Ford (1-800-866-1520 ext. 236) and order them. Also, if the wiring even remotely seems in question then you can order the wiring from him as well for either, or both of the sensors.

I have detailed instructions on how to remove both the cam sensor and the crank sensor if you need the help.

how old are the plugs? cold weather starts need a good gap. just somethong to try. make shure that the heads are cold if you check the plugs by removing them. jd

there are newer plugs and wires on thanks for the input

well i did the cam/crank sensor's, drove the car for a week now i'm still having the same trouble, could it be the fuel pump? if so how could i test it to be sure?

It is quite possible that it is the wiring leading up to either the crank or the cam sensors. Some ppl have noted that if they wiggle the wires either at the cam or crank sensors that the car acts up. Look there before you think it is the pump. If it was the pump it would most likely be there all the time, not intermittently.

I have had on/off again fuel pump problems with a couple of my fords. They should just die out completly but they do not always go that way.Check the fuel pressure and see what you get. Also The connectors like Ray said for the CPS/CS sensors are known to get moisture in them and lose connectivity.if you can find the exact wire.Unplug the harness's and put some Dielectric grease on there then plug them back in.That solved my CPS problem on my Jeep.
