My 03's brakes recently got very soft. They go all the way to the floor, and are actually scary to drive with.
Took it to the dealer (see other thread!) and 9 days later the called to let us know that its normal wear and it would be our responsibility.

I don't mind a bit to change the pads, I even have access to the caliper tool, but I can't see this happening all of a sudden.

Are there any known issues that could cause the brakes to suddenly go soft?

Should the service notes have something on there about checking the pads to verify that was the problem?

Thanks all.

Soft brakes usually means air in the lines, or a hose is about to blow up. When the hoses get old they deteriorate inside, which will cause them to balloon when you apply the brakes.
