I was posted a link in another thread of mine for some guy selling a KB 2.2L 96-98 Cobra kit. I decided to bite the bullet and try and buy it. The thing has 8K on it and is the 2.2L not the standard 2.1L kit. The problem is because he has the bypass valve on the bottom of the plenum it looks like there is a 1" spacer under the plenum which takes space I dont have. :(
Searching through threads it seems I already need to drop the k-member an inch to clear the standard setup. Since there are no cowl hoods for the second Gens I assume I am just SOL on this blower.

Unless someone has any ideas I will continue the hunt.

Here is his setup:

Do you know of a body man who can cut a hole in your hood and glass in the scoop, or are you just going to look for a centrifugal blower?

THese are not spacers, these are oem IMRC plates, same as on your engine. Looks like a typical B head install.

You're gonna have issues close to the cowl though, as it won't clear the hood.

Dropping the K will take care of these issues correct?

Yeah I just a few minutes ago found that out. I assumed they were spacers so maybe I can still use the bypass valve.
Just spoke to KB and he said the valve can be removed if I am running under 9psi but that was when I told them I thought there were spacers under the KB plenum.

So the question now is what to use for spacers.

KB says at 6-7psi my 255lph pump is enough and dont even need the BAP.

I wonder if 03/04 Cobra injectors will fit? 39lb should be enough for what I want and they are cheap. Also thinking if I should upgrade to a Cobra MAF.

Custom spacers?

Laser cut... I'd buy now and worry about the details later...
I agree. Jeff and I are going to see if we can get away with cutting the hood first and if not we will take it from there. I just struck a deal with the guy and am now trying to find him a Cobra plenum so he can remove the blower.

Now I just have to locate some injectors that will fit (looking for 39-42lb) and some Cobra fuel rails.
SAAAGE advice....

Yeah but I dont want all that weight up there as I am not looking for the HP potential of that engine. I want the car to remain fairly balenced and not nose heavy as I love the twisties. :)

Glad it worked out for you. It was pure luck I ran across the ad.

OK being new on all this I am not sure. Laser when you say you need to locate a Cobra plenum do you mean the whole cobra intake? If that is the case I know DLF had one for sale fuel rail and all.

Thanks mang! I definatly owe you a beer! I am sending the deposit for it now and he will ship it after I give the rest next week. :) I am very excited!

Just need Cobra fuel rails and a larger blower pully and then have to figure out what to do about the intake pipe. See if I can use mine or if I need a Cobra one.

The guy needs a complete plenum but he has rails. So I will get with DLF and see if we can work something out. Thanks. :)

It's sold...

I think it may sit under the stock hood without K-member spacers. let me look at my car and see if we have some kind of ratio to compare to.

BTW you're gonna want to have it sent to KB and have it updated. those things leaked pretty bad.

Turns out he bought the one I sent him the link to on ebay earlier. That means he has fuel rails and t-body for me now too.

I bought it, its mine now. :D

Should I use the Cobra t-body or the Marks?

Well Laser I can't wait to see this part of the build completed. With all your work on this car you have inspired me to do some of them to my Mark.

Good luck with it and I look forward to following the progress.

Thanks! I too look foreward to this mod. I have to get some supporting stuff done too so I dont blow the car up.
Need a trans cooler, j-mod and injectors.

Still nobody has said if I should use my stock TB or buy the Cobra one he will sell me for cheap.

Make sure you get some before and after times at the track.

Dont have time to run her before. :( Ill try but cant prommis anything.

So its set to have the blower installed on the 17th and then tuned on the 19th at Gearheads in Dallas. Guys really know their stuff and the prices are great. They are even going to send me a base tune to make sure I dont blow her up on teh way home after the install.
