I searched but could not find any info on if I can turn off the easy entry/exit on a 2000. In the manual it says to go in the message center but my car does not have a message center.. I was hoping there was a way to turn it off. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it.

didn't see any info in the manual for V6 cars(message center only), probably have to have it done at the dealer.

Yup..... V6 owners need to visit the dealer to activate/deactivate Easy Access...

Can I just go to the service department at the dealer and tell them I want the deactivate east access? Is it usually something they will do for free?

yes and no

service department handles the work, but it is unlikely that they would hook up the computer without a charge just from walking in.

your best bet would be to take it in for some service (oil change, tire rotation, brake job...) and while they are working on it, maybe you could ask them to take a look at it for you... also when ever my car goes somewhere to get worked on not by me, there is usually a box of doughnuts or similar on the pass seat for the guys. definitely doesn't hurt your chances of getting a little help here and there.

You can turn half it off, sort of. Once you have the seat exactly where you want it, pull the fuse for the seat in the trunk. The steering will still move of course but that's kinda nice really. As others have noted, disabling the feature requires dealer intervention for V6 owners.

Dealer only on the V6. While in the dealer you may want to consider turning off the automatic door locks also. I just had this in a dealership in MN to turn off the door locks, over speed warning light and a back up beeping. (long story) The dealership did not know what they were doing and instead turned off my cruise control hours before I started on a 5000 mile road trip. Needless to say I was upset and I needed to search out a dealership on the road that knew what they were doing to get this fixed. Some dealers are good at this, some have no clue. Yes there will be a cost.

wait, what?

that might as well just be my check engine light cause that sh!t would always be on!

Wonky situation with my LS. If I go over 70 MPH the cruise control light flashes. No beeps thankfully. It flashes at about the same rate as the turn signal. I have found I can ignore it while driving and although it is annoying, I can live with it. I found that this is a feature for some cars imported to other countries. Asian market maybe? Don't know which ones or how it got turned on in my LS. I also have a backup beep inside the car when the car is in reverse. Again, something for the foreign market and I don't know how this got turned on in my car. I bought the car 2 years ago and these features were on then. The only thing I can figure is that the car sat for a long time, battery died for a while and somehow the settings defaulted to a manufactures default. But that is just a theory.

well then, that is very interesting... I would for sure have to get that shut off! maybe 20% of the drive time in my LS is under 70 mph

I don't think so. The settings are in EEPROM (or FLASH), not RAM. Having or not having power is not a factor. Someone was playing around with FLASHing stuff and set those by mistake or by intent.
