so im planning on putting a tv in my dash where my air bag use to be. but i dont want it to lay flat because then it would just be looking up at the sky all the time.

any suggestions?

I would be very, very careful about eliminating airbags. You are going to have a warning light for one, and I'm not sure where you stand legally. I know you will have one heck of a time selling or trading the car without them.

I disagree to a certain extent. Hear in Cali they have airbag laws that say kids of a certain age cant ride in the front seat if the car is equipped with airbags. I have 5 kids and that can be a PITA! Also airbags are relatively new to cars so alot of people dont think twice (let alone once) about them. My other daily drivers are (were) a 78 Bronco and a 74 Bronco. Before that an 89 Mustang. I never thought about the fact they didnt have airbags.

as far as i know there are no laws where i live (ky) about air bags when i took the car to get inspected they said they were not necesarry.

now on the other hand i really hate air bags. they scare the :q:q:q:q out of me. u never know when they are going to blow. even if you dont wreck. and the are already deployed anyway, due to it being a rebuilt car

its going to save me a lot of money anyway for something i dont really care to have (airbags) then replacing them have you seen the prices for them biatches?

Well, using that logic, you should stop driving the car, because you never know when the gas tank is going to explode.

Modern airbags don't just "go off" any more than modern gas tanks do. The airbags have several sensors located in various parts of the car, and multiple sensors have to be tripped for the computer to deploy the airbags. If you're worried about the damage of the wreck causing the airbags to deploy unexpectedly, then you need to get rid of the car, because there's something really wrong with it.

Whether you replace the airbags or not is up to you, but if you don't, don't post it here. If I were your insurance company, I'd drop your policy in a New York minute as soona sI learned of it. It's almost certainly a violation of the terms of coverage, and it presents an unacceptable level of risk for the insurance company--if you have passengers and are involved in a collision, the first thing their lawyers are going to do it sue you for driving around with a disabled safety system.

And I'm fairly certain that you'll find that driving a car that's factory-equipped with airbags without those airbags is a violation of both Kentucky and Federal DoT regulations...

what do u mean dont post it here? am i still in america?on the internet? wtf how are you going to tell me not to post it on here because i dont want to put air bags in my car? you act like i did some awful crime. i mean come on did i offend you or something? did i call your mom out her name? no all i said was i dont want to put my air bags back in. my choice. and also like i said when they inspected my car they said nothing about the air bags.

Hang on just a second--you've misread what I said. I'm not telling you what to post; I'm just telling you that it would be unwise to tell the world that you're doing something that can be used against you. You can bet your last dollar that an insurance company would use failure to replace the airbags as an excuse to drop your coverage.

As for the inspection guys telling you that the airbags are not needed, I'll get my legal advice from a lawyer, thanks. Just because it's not necessary for passing an inspection doesn't mean that it's illegal to disable something--it just means that it's not on their inspection checklist.

currently i am the high bidder. so we will see what happens i guss.

so what about where the air bag has deployed on the pass side? how will i fix that busted dash?

also i will have some things for sale off of a lincoln ls 00 model. wiring and such that i had bough from a salvage yard. i mean like the whole car wiring its rediculous how much wiring i have. and some other things that i have to sort through

I think that's going to require replacing the entire dash cover, but a good upholstery man can probably repair it for you in the interim. I wouldn't think it would be all that expensive to patch the dash; it might not even be that much to re-cover the whole dash, but it's been a long time since I've had any upholstery work done.

thats gotta look pretty hott with a tv in the dash like your talkin about... lemme know if you go thru with it

Well It Looks Like Im Going To Put The Tv In The Dash Cause I Really Dont Want Th E Air Bags And The Price Is Getting Up There To About The Price I Would Pay For The Tv. And Besides I Have Kids With Me Alot In The Car Not My Kids But My Bestfriends Kids All 4 Of Them So One Of Them Has To Sit In The Front

I'm not the biggest fan of airbags myself, but it should be pointed out that the LS has an intelligent multi-stage airbag system; if the front seat passenger is below a certain weight threshold, the airbags do not deploy at full force. Also, the passenger-side airbag is disabled if the passenger side front seat belt is not buckled.

So... since you have kids sitting in the front, a TV is a better idea than an airbag?

Looks like some stealthy dude snagged those airbags in the last 2 seconds of the auction for $132. Think you can get a TV that'll fit in that spot for that price?

Good luck :)

hahahha are u the one that got those air bags?
