As we all know, I just had two coils replaced. Of course, that fixed the problem for a day, then it returned very slowly. But that I can deal with, as I'm ordering new coils tomorrow to finish the replacement of all eight. This is completely unrelated.

I noticed the normal oil stain on the driveway yesterday looked a little bigger. Sadly, I didn't get a chance to look at the car until this evening. Looked from the top, no signs of oil. Good thing. Get under the car, and there it is. Coolant, dripping from the frame just behind the driver side front wheel. Hmmm.......

So I pull the inner fender cover, and found the leak. At the hose coming from the bottom of the coolant resivoir, that clamped connection right there. Unfortunately, there's NO way to get to it without removing the wiper blades, cowling, brake master cylinder, and brake power booster.

So, I a moment of complete idiocy or genius, I looked at the two holes where I could see the bottom of the resevoir, and made the decision. Tomorrow, I'm cutting a panel out so I can fix it. Then I'm tracking down the designer of that little fiasco and smacking him.

I figure it will be ok, considering there's nothing but loomed wires or protected coolant lines there (and a couple of fuel lines).

this is getting out of hand with this car. I'm sooooo tempted to just sell it and get a used Grand Prix GTP like my buddy has. yeah, it's a step down, but he's had absolutely no trouble with it.

Oh, and to top it off, while my car was in the dealership getting the coils done, the service manager said "too bad you didn't buy this from a ford dealer. This car is a certified vehicle, and had a transferrable 100K mile warranty that's bumper to bumper." Dammit. Anyone think I can track down the previous owner and work that out?? lol

if it is transferable then what does it matter where you bought the car from? If there i one thing I have learned about this car every repair is like an easter egg hunt. Except teh o2 sensors funny thing is that most other vehicles it is a pain in the :q to change the o2s. But then again this isnt every other car.

Now about the Pontiac they have probelms too and your buddy is likely to encounter them or he might get away scott free but it isnt a lincoln.

Lincoln vs Pontiac... attention getter vs something that rhymes with yak. I have cut and paved the road of hardship cases with this car but it is a damn hot ride. The same thing crossed my mind a hundred times if not more.

The LSers support and the gooeiness I get everytime keeps me coming back for more. Eventually it will feather out you willhave learned a lot about the car and your fellow owners and you will get that LS grin everytime you get close to the car. Heck you might get it standing at the urinal and the fella next to you might wonder whats up but he is driving a pontiac and wouldnt understand!

Hey if there is anything I can recommend that is do the repair the right way. It might take a little longer but you can rest easy everytime you park your butt in the seat.

Karma will catch up to the engineers that did this to us :)

if you can get some photos. I suspect I might have a leak in the same area. I refilled my coolant after the valve cover job and think I might have put in too much. It leaks out a little every now and then since the job was done. I am not sure if it is overflow or a leak.

I began thinking leak earlier today and now that you have posted I will have to go in and investigate to make sure. If I get a chance to do it first I will get some photos and post them as well.

I feel your pain. I have 10 posts of problems I have that I haven't even written yet that I need help on. :)

Anyway, strange coincidence that you bring up the GTP as a friend of mine traded in his GTP today at lunch. They have problems. ABS sensors(hub replacement), transmission issues, valve cover gaskets, cam and crank sensors, radio and all electronic controls can be flaky and your typical GM interior issues. I am not going on his car alone. I have read about GTPs and considered one before I bought my LS. Came very close to getting one. With some mods and a quite a bit of work, they can be nice cars. My friend's car was quick with the mods he did. He got rid of it as I guess they have torque converter/cracked flexplate problems and his car was showing signs of it and he didn't want to deal with it. I will say that you can put a lot less money in them than an LS and make them very quick.

I am a huge Trans Am fan. FAST cars with little effort.

see ya never know which one is going to be good or bad. I recommend sticking with a car that you know has a dedicated community commited to supporting each other. just my 2 cents... Again. so that make 8 cents so far.

Yeah, until you really start digging into the (The LT1 cars at least). I've been battling one of mine for 19 months now. And it's coming apart again as soon as I get hit home.

eL eS, I'll get pics of the leaking area and my dremel handiwork today and post them up. I got a nice new 8 MP Coolpix that should do the trick.

Funny thing. Took the car into Philly today to the Salvador Dali exhibit and then made a run to the base for groceries. On the way to the base it misfired HARD a couple of times towards the end of the 1+ hour drive (gotta order the last 5 coils to be replaced) but we nursed it home. Get home, and I take a look under the car. Zero coolant. Not even a drop under the car. I guess all the fidgeting around with it the other night fixed the leak. I'm going to keep an eye on it but for the time being I'm going to leave well enough alone.
