Hi all I searched and searched and could find a thread about this so I figured I'd start one up and see where it goes. Lets see those Under hood shots:D

Here's my 95:

And then I was messing around in Photoshop and made this:

The pictures look great guys. I have always loved the look of the 96 - 98 Cobra intake.

Dirty or not KStrom. I am still drooling. :D

I love the performance of that intake too which is my excuse for ignoring the dirt. :p One of the only people that has seen under my hood in the last year is the tech inspector at the track. That's why I haven't been to any car shows recently. :shifty::rolleyes::p

I don't blame you. Keep that baby hidden. :gr_devil:

How big of a difference did you feel with the Cobra intake?

I'm sure you were like "nothing to see here..":shifty: lol

With 4.30s, 3800 stall, full exhaust, and a mail-order tune I went from a best of 14.12 to 13.59 in the 1/4 mile. I have not yet ran it with the new dyno tune, but it feels like a low 13 second car at this point. The intake swap is huge on these cars, especially with the Gen2 models that have a much worse intake design. Almost every Gen2 Mark8 that I know of with a Vortech supercharged setup has even switched over to the Cobra intake. Forced induction will somewhat disguise the bad intake design on the Gen2s because you are forcing the intake to receive air which can somewhat mask the problem compared to an all motor setup where that can be much more of a hindrance but I think it gets to a point even under boost where the stock intake design shows it's ability to rob power which is why most of those guys have switched over. Eventually you will get to the point where the car needs a better set of lungs, and even with a blower and full exhaust on a Gen2, there is still that last ingredient to the recipe.

Notice I didn't mention the Gen1s. That again is purely intake design. Compare the two side by side sometime and you will see what I mean. Don Pfau is running 11.6-11.8s with his stock intake. With his boost level, low shift points, and bolt-ons, I don't think any Gen2 would run his time on a stock intake with the same setup. Another thing to add, the Gen1 intake has 16 primaries, the Gen2 only has 8. The Cobra intake also only has 8 primaries but they are much larger and the intake has more volume.

I'm pretty sure I've still got an extra one. I'll dig it out and let you know.

It's been powdercoated gloss black, so not SUPER cheap, but I'm sure we can work something out.

Oh good grief. There's some smokin' hot engines in this thread... DLF OMG!!! Warden, Stromberg... just when I feel 'finished' with my car for a second, you guys post up these beauties. I can tell right now, this is NEVER going to end :shifty: :D
