v6 burnout

is a STOCK v6 burnout possible?

Sure why not? Just keep traction control off so its not applying brake at any point to the rear tires.

Hope to drive by/over a few of your one leggers some day!!!

tried it this morning, they just squak a lil.. no smoke or anything.. :(

Did you mash the pedal to the floor while holding the brake? Don't baby the gas, mash it and let it spin a few times, she'll get goin! hehe =)

yea.. dont forget this is a front wheel drive... so i should jsut pull the ebrake?

ah, last time I checked LS is rear wheel drive...

I just step on the gas (without brake) that spins the rubber pretty good.
I never like the idea of holding brake and stepping on gas.

i have the v6 which is Front Wheel drive... The v8 is rear wheel..

are you serious, my v6 is rear wheel drive... I FEEL LIKE THE BIGGEST IDIOT!!!!

Mashing the brake and flooring the gas (Power Braking) is not a good thing if you do it for too long. The transmission fluid will overheat which will cause damage if it gets hot enough, which it can faster than you would think.

The V6 probably doesn't have the power, but power braking an auto can also cause the torque converter to "balloon", effectively destroying the converter and also potentially killing the tranny too. I doubt our trannies and converters are designed to handle abnormal use like power braking.

Power braking is only "safe" in a tranny properly modified for such "abuse". You can get away with it most of the time but if it fails, it will cost a mighty nice bundle of cash.

Just enjoy your car. Smoking tires is not the best use of the power you have and it at best wastes rubber, and looses traction and at worst, you get a new tranny. You will notice the professionals only smoke em in the bleach pit and that is only to clean the tires. The winner rarely smokes off the line. Smoke means your horsepower is being wasted.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

Never power braked my LS, I have however did a couple 180's and sort of drift going around a corner. But I don't do it all the time and don't plan on it much anymore.

Just mashing the gas and going the v8 does spin pretty good depending on the weather and how hot or cold the tires are. I try not to spin or "chirp" when taking off like a bat out of hell.

I agree, I have tried it before with my V8 though. But unless it was wet outside the only way that I could spin my wheels was turning curves. However, I realized how bad of a habit spinning my wheels was when I had to replace one of those expensive a$$ tires. So if you've got the money and the guts, I say have fun with it and leave your mark on the road. But its not for me, i'm poor :-(

I had a ls for two days as a rental car. 2005 v6. I tryed to do a burnout but I couldn't. I just punched in gas and it still wouldn't spin. I don't know but the v6 are hard to spin. It has more hp than the town car, so I was suprized it couldn't do a burnout because all you have to do with the town car is punch in the gas and it will spin for about 3 seconds.(Till 20mph)

here are some videos

Man I get burnouts just about all the time but I have the magnaflow and I have modified the airbox. I also recently replaced all the coils and plugs and ever since it has been breaking traction much easier.

I do not do it on purpose becasue I know that these rtannies are weaker than puppy pee.

I wouldn't advise neutral slamming it.

i concur. these transmissions are really the most reliable any way so I would not sacrifice being able to drive the car in order to lay down a little rubber.

It takes torque to burn rubber, something the LS, especially the V6s, is in short supply.

Neutral drops are dumb, hard on the drive train. That's why the LS has a 3000 RPM rev limit in neutral or park. A clutch dump on a V6 stick would certainly break them loose, but the shock is still hard on the drivetrain.

Lets get real here, the LS is not a drag racer. There's a reason you don't see IRS on any car set up for drag racing. Yeah, you might look cool showing off w/ a big smokey burnout for your friends........... until your transmission pukes it guts all over the road then you'll look like a dumbass. But hey, it's YOUR car.
