That's not really a cold air intake.. Maybe if you had a heat shield. It should be going towards the bottom of the car. I am interested in this short ram cone filter set-up.. especially since I just bought a 100$ KKM intake that doesn't have any of the stainless piping.

Do you have any more info other than "65$ on Ebay?"

Just curious, how do the GenI differ from the GenII as far as the intake is concerned? I've got an 05, will it fit? :shifty:

^ other then it sucks <air in, that is>

It's hard to find pictures of the V6, but looking at some engines on eBay, it looks like the Gen 2 has a shorter tube from throttle body to filter and the TB is at a different angle.

V8... very visibly different. Gen 2 has a short, slightly curved tube. The Gen 1 has the TB up by the cowl facing the passenger side, so the intake tube makes a big J-is-for-Jaguar shape, just like the S-type's J-gate shifter (ew)

Yes the Gen 2 has a shorter and simpler setup as for an intake design goes. I started making one today to test out at some point on my 06 Gen 2 V8 on my dyno to get a comparison from factory intake to this setup as a straight bolt on without and with pcm tuning. At some point I'll make a box enclosure for the filter as well with an ram effect. Recalibrating the MAF will be key for driveability due to the new setup and velocity to customize an optimal desire calibration. Short ram effect with a enclose box should produce best result as long as the box design allows ram air effect or reduces the hotter engine bay element. Short ram design as is has a less air restriction, which in theory will allow more air flow in a shorter distance. But the drawback will be heat soaking of the engine bay itself creating less oxygenated air flow to generate power. A long tube design that introduce air from outside the engine will most likely have air restriction in it's path design and will not benefit on low to mid power output depending on the design path. But will increase higher power output in higher rpm range or in full throttle situation due to the more dense air flow. A enclose box design around the filter will create a greater dense air flow vs just an expose heated environment with less dense air flow. But an enclose box design with an ram air effect will allow more cooler dense air flow, generating the best of both world in theory. IMG_20150814_041341.jpg
