Valve Gasket Cover?

Hey, about to chsange out my left n right Valve Cover Gaskets,,,and noticed the covers have a sealant on them.

Guess to keep out fluids, is this normal to bolt on and sealed them?

the only place that gets sealant is a small dab where the timing chain cover meets the head. look at the guide in the tech section on this forums
