Whats up guys, i'm kinda new to this forum i just got my 2001 LS with 49000 miles on it like about a week and a half ago and :L But i seem to be having a few small problems with it and i needed some info... I tried searching for the answer but to no avail... Well my first problem is my gas pedal for some odd reason vibrates around like 30 miles per hour all the time.... it usually doesnt vibrate at any other speed which is why i think its weird. Well thats my first problem the second one is when my car sits at like a red light or is idle in drive for a while it will be idling fine and then the car's idle dips real low to like 300-250 RPMs and then kicks right back up to normal RPMs... Now i've been reading alot on here and it seems as though i've got some bad ignition coils but i could be wrong. if someone can help me out that would be great... by the way these forums are great you guys are really helpful in providing information...

Thanks in Advance,
Josh

Thanks for the welcome! I guess i'll have t be a little more patient next time... :Bang. i just need to get this fixed at the dealer before my warranty runs out which is 60 days or 2500 miles, and i've already driven about 1200 miles...

Don't worry, you'll get a detailed response before your warranty is up. I'm sure quik or grayghost, or another knowledgable member will steer you in the right direction.

As far as the idle goes, you might want to get the valve cover gaskets checked and replaced if necessary.

The idle issue should be warrantied. I would have them look at that right away. Give them enough time to duplicate the problem. Also, keep notes of when it happens and what the conditions are. (is the a/c on? Is your foot on the brake? etc.) This can help them diagnose the problem and save everyone a ton of time.

As to the vibrating pedal, I have never heard of that one. Are you sure it's the pedal or is it the floor board under the pedal? Is it tire balance or "nibble"? That's pretty common on these cars and there are a bunch of service advisories about that. But that is almost exclusively felt in the steering wheel. If you are convinced it's in the pedal, I would start doing a close inspection of the throttle cable and any and all linkages and mounting points. Something has got to be "grounded" there to give you that. (by grounded...I mean resting against something it shouldn't be)

Is it a rough idle? Does it kinda shake the car when the rpms start to drop? Mine was doing that, and the valve cover gaskets were leaking. If you bring it in and they say it was just a blown coil pack, ask them if there was oil around the plug, if so, the vc gakets are most likely bad.

Actually thats exactly what it does in the morning sometimes when i first start it up... it kinda shakes a little then after driving it for like 5 minutes its fine, but still does the idle drop thing for a bit until i've driven the car for maybe 20 minutes, then it usually goes away... Thank you for the responses by the way. :Beer if anyone else has any ideas on what it might be feel free to chime in..

O and one more...

O and one more thing i forgot to ask... I bought the car at a Suzuki dealer, now as far as them working on it i dont really feel comfortable. Now obviously the warranty is through them. Should i just let them fix it or should i request that they pay for the repairs through a lincoln dealer? Think they would do that? I'm guessing no. But i kinda dont want them to be touching my lincoln. I was weary to even let them do brakes, nvm anything to do with the engine or its components... Any ideas??

I actually avoid taking my car to the lincoln dealership. I have mine serviced at a garage about 30 miles away from me. If they have access to a service manual or something telling them how to do the repair, it should be fine. You might even have a better experience there than at a lincoln dealership.

Thanks for all your help guys, i'm gonna go to the dealership i bought it at tomorow i will update you guys on what they say and if there gonna fix it... Wish me luck... I'm gonna need it... lol! :Beer

A SUZKIE DEALER! GEZZZIE PETE!!!!!

Oh man, I feel so violated for your Lincoln.

Dude, I understand your trying to get the best out of the warranty, have him look at it, can you be there? I would make sure to. Have him tell you what he finds wrong and if it were me I would be looking at it with him so he'd be talkin as we found out what he needed to do, get him to tell you how/why, then I would do a little research on his diagnosis if possible, have your laptop or internet access with you and plug in or use their ISP - (I have actually done both), and see if you can find actual lincoln tech articles to back it up, this does not take but 5-10 mins tops. I really have done this on several occassions and if your nice enough the mech. does not get mad. Oh blonde and blue eyes helped a little.

Good luck, and trust no one (dealership).

Got an interesting devlopment, the dealer has an apointment set up for next week for me to take the car in, but anyways, the idle thing i talked about above just got a ltitle weirder... well anyways it started doing the idle problem just like any other time except this time the battery light came on when it did it... anyway know what that is? i'm talking about the battery symbol witht he + and -... which i thought was kinda odd but then it hit me that it might be the alternator not charging the battery enough and when i take my foot off the gas it stops charging the battery... i could be wrong but what do you guys/gals think????

Valve body in the tranny, i think?
had the same problem, does it make a humming noise from the rear?

Cause and effect. Could be the idle dropped low enough to give you an alternator warning. It could also be an alternator causing you issues. I would start with checking the coils and gaskets. Injectors next. I had a bad fuel injector that was causing bad vibrations when cold also. Let them work for the warranty. If they can't figure it out, that's when you will have to worry about the troubleshooting. Maybe your pedal problem is vibration from the engine missing.

Good luck.
