I was forwarded an e-mail about 6-8 months ago. It was about a study being done about the body absorbing through your feet. They had barefoot people walk across various things and monitor any changes, feeling, or whatever. The thing that got me was chopped garlic. The test subjects reported being able to taste the garlic in their mouths. I'm not a scientist, but they said they absorbed the garlic oil into their system through their feet. I thought it was bs but kept reading anyway. There were several people who replied to this e-mail stating they have done the same thing with Vicks vapor rub and how it helps with a chest cold.

Just so happens I caught a cold/bug that settled in my chest. Still thinking this was bs I decided to give it a try last night, what could it hurt. I gobbed the Vicks on both feet, put on a pair of socks and went to bed. I slept the night thru, no coughing, hacking or weezing. Best nights sleep I've had since I got sick.

I'm still feeling the effects of the cold/bug, but my chest is cleared up, no hacking up of flem, and I feel pretty good. Still low on energy, but it will come back.

Just thought I would pass this along. If you have a sick child and normally use Vicks on their chest or under their nose, try it on their feet.

Alright I'm going to put my school notes on my feet and sleep through the night.

From letter from the National Research Council Canada in the Snopes article:
Some of our best-known advancements have been in this field, including: the first practical motorized wheelchair, the first artificial pacemaker, the Meningitis-C vaccine, the cobalt bomb and research intofood-borne pathogens and water safety, to name a few.
Talk about one of those things not being like the others. BTW, I didn't know Leo Szilard worked for the NRCC... ;)

I see the snopes link mentioned the Dr. Gott column that said VIck's could stop toenail fungus. Vick's didn't recommend it, though.

Dr. Gott also said that washing your hands after you pee was not necessary, so those of you who don't, you've gott the DR. backing you up.:)
