Awhile back I posted about my voice recognition not working when I pressed the voice button on my steering wheel. I was told that it was a software issue. I was just wondering if any one knew which DVD was needed to get that option. I've seen some 2004 Lincoln DVDs on ebay but was curious if these would have the option I am looking for. Any help would be great.

hey I don't think anyone was "certain" it was a software issue...but who knows. Do this. PM me your physical mailing address and I'll send you my DVD (first year's version) that I KNOW worked in my LS with voice. OK?

Actually, you can test you PTT (Push To Talk) switch [The voice switch] with the NAV system. Just do the following:

  1. Turn the car on
  2. Press and hold the AUDIO and MENU buttons (First and Last ones)
  3. A screen should pop up asking you for a code
  4. Type in 917, and press enter
  5. In this screen there should be something about Manual Check
  6. Go into the manual check and there should be an option for testing the microphone
  7. In this screen there is a test for the PTT and the Mic
  8. Exit by hitting return at the top left of your screen
  9. DO NOT PRESS THE UPDATE SOFTWARE BUTTON
  10. :D

P.S. - I did this all from memory so I could be completly wrong about the button and menu names.

I think you're confusing the mapping software with the voice recognition software. AFAIK, the DVD only contains maps for the navigation system. Changing it or replacing it will likely not solve your nonworking voice recognition because the DVD does not contain any software to power that system. The dealer may be able to reload the software for the voice recognition, but I seriously doubt swapping the map DVD will do it.

you might be right and might not. I can tell you that with no dvd disc in the drive the voice button doesn't work so I'm thinking there "may" be some software on there. If I get the PM I'll send the disc for free....

Ok I pm'd you beaups, but you have to let me pay for shipping. I did microphone test, theunclesam, and it tested fine. Thanks guys. ToddG I was kinda wondering about it being on the DVD too. I e-mailed Lincoln but have not recieved and response. The dealer said they would check on it but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm gonna give them a call agin today. They may have forgot because it has been pretty hectic here in Missouri lately with tornados and things.
