I have an '06 V8 with throttle-by-wire. I'd like to clean out the throttle body. I have heard issues where the TPS needed reset do to forcing open the throttle on some cars, costing chuck of change at the dealer. How can I either, Open it to wide open position or force open then reset it?

Just take the intake ducting off, spray the cleaner inside the TB while manually opening the throttle blades (stick your finger in there to open it), use a brush to scrape the crap off, put everything back together, start car, enjoy!

The above is what we did to my car about 6 months ago. No problems.

I never heard of that.

But I would say to just take a slight bit of extra care while doing this. From what I have gathered there is a coating on the TB that may get damaged by some cleaners.

This is very true. Don't clean it unless you are clearly having a problem with a dirty throttle body. If you do clean it, then you will have to keep cleaning it every so often because of the non-stick coating being worn away by your cleaning.
